Systems and method are provided for detecting key-points in at least one image which involves dividing the at least one image into a plurality of image blocks; determining sparse representations of the image blocks using a dictionary D; determining at least one measure for each of the sparse representations of the image block; optionally determining key-points for which the at least one measure for each of the image blocks falls within a specified range; and retaining only the determined key-points with the at least one measure that is a local maxima in a sliding window when performing non-maxima suppression and identifying these retained key-points as detected key-points. In accordance with further teachings provided herein, there is also provided methods and systems for performing scale and/or rotation invariant sparse coding based key-point (SRI-SCK) detection and processing of images.

Systems and methods for keypoint detection

The method includes a dictionary including a target collection defined by images that are known with a defined level of certainty to include a subject and an imposter collection defined by images of individuals other than the subject. In the method, images of an area are captured over a period of time. In respect of each image: a matching calculation is carried out, based upon a comparison of the image captured with the images in the dictionary to result in a measure of confidence that the subject is in the area; and an inference determination is made to replace one of the target collection images with a further image that is known with the defined level of certainty, the determination being a function of the measure of confidence resultant from the captured image, the measure resultant from one or more previously captured images and the associated capture times.

System for video based face recognition using an adaptive dictionary

A method for use with a stream of images defining a video. The method includes the steps of periodically conducting a face finding operation on an image in the stream. In respect to the last image in the stream preceding the image in which one or more faces was found, a tracker based upon wavelet decomposition is used to find a face for each face found in the last image for which no counterpart was found in the image.

Method for driver face detection in videos

A method for sharing a mixed reality experience (mixed reality content, mixed reality event) between one or more computing devices is disclosed. The method includes: determining a spatial location and a spatial orientation (spatial data) of the one or more computing devices each having a camera; mapping the (spatial) location and/or the spatial orientation (spatial data) of each of the one or more computing devices into a mixed reality manager; and presenting an event that is shared among the one or more computing devices, and, the presenting of the event is experienced simultaneously and varies among each of the one or more computing devices depending on the location or the orientation or both.

Systems and methods for a shared mixed reality experience

A method is provided for detecting a body part in a video stream from a mobile device. A video stream of a human subject is received from a camera connected to the mobile device. The video stream has frames. A first frame of the video stream is identified for processing. This first frame is then partitioned into observation windows, each observation window having pixels. In each observation window, non-skin-toned pixels are eliminated; and the remaining pixels are compared to determine a degree of entropy of the pixels in the observation window. In any observation window having a degree of entropy above a predetermined threshold, a bounded area is made around the region of high entropy pixels. The consistency of the entropy is analyzed in the bounded area. If the bounded area has inconsistently high entropy, a body part is determined to be detected at that bounded area.
