A food storage and dispensing device includes a food holder configured to contain a sliceable item of food on the support surface and between the side walls. The food holder has a dispensing opening located at the first end. The device further includes a lid moveably mounted over the food holder so as to have an open position and a closed position and an end cap, having an upper edge coupled to the lid at a location proximate to the first end. The end cap is oriented to cover the dispensing opening when the lid is in the closed position and has a lower edge opposite the upper edge, the lower edge configured to slice the sliceable item of food when the lid is moved from the open position to the closed position.

Apparatus and method for storing and dispensing an item of food

An active suspension seat for use in a vehicle incorporates a swivel enabling the active suspension seat to be rotated about a vertical axis towards and away from a position appropriate for use in driving the vehicle, and incorporates a seat controller operating a brake to prevent such rotation away from that appropriate position in response to an indication that the vehicle is in motion, and limiting the active suspension to being enabled only when the seat is in the appropriate position for use in driving.

Active suspension seat and vehicle operation interlocks

An apparatus has an active suspension including an electromagnetic actuator coupled to a plant in a vehicle. A force bias eliminator is coupled to the plant for causing the actuator to experience a zero-mean load, and a vibration isolation block generates a control signal based on the response of a nominal plant to measured disturbances of the actively suspended plant. A compensation system modifies the control signal in response to a difference between the response of the nominal plant to the control signal and a measured response of the actively-suspended plant to the control signal.

Active suspending

A method for operating an active vehicle seat in a vehicle includes detecting a triggering event related to a security threat to the active vehicle seat. An operation of the active vehicle seat is disabled in response to the detected triggering event. The operation of the active vehicle seat is enabled by providing authentication of an authorized user.
