Epoxy resins having low melt viscosities and high softening points are prepared by partially reacting the epoxy resin with a monoimide. These modified epoxy resins are useful as binders in preparing high flow-out, non-sintering powder paints, particularly in epoxy resin/polyester hybrid coatings.

Imide Modified epoxy resins

This invention is an improvement in a process for preparing a polyurethane backed substrate whereby a reacting polyurethane forming mixture comprising at least one polyahl and at least one polyisocyanate as applied to a substrate and subsequently curing thereon to form an attached polyurethane backing. The improvement which is this invention comprises employing an organoiron or organobismuth catalyst for said polyurethane forming mixture. The organoiron or organobismuth catalyst is employed in an amount such that the polymer forming mixture exhibits the viscosity of not greater than about 20,000 cps 2 minutes after the polyahl and polyisocyanates are contacted in the presence of said catalyst at 20.degree.-50.degree. C. and the polyurethane forming mixture cures to a tack free state at an elevated temperature in the presence of said catalyst in less than about 8 minutes.

Polyurethane carpet backing catalyzed with organoiron and organobismuth

One or more of the physical properties of a polyurethane backed carpet is improved by including in the polyurethane backing system a thermoplastic polymer prepared by polymerizing one or more ethylenically unsaturated monomers.

Polyurethane backed carpet containing a non-chlorinated polymer

Polyurethane backed carpet prepared from a urethane-forming composition containing a catalyst composition containing at least one conventional catalyst and at least one delayed action heat activated catalyst results in a carpet having an improvement in at least one of tack-free time, edge curl and tuft lock.
