A chemiluminescent projectile having multi-spectral output, including daytime viewable, nighttime viewable and thermal outputs. The chemiluminescent projectile has a payload that permits the visualization of the fired projectile using a variety of detecting methods including human vision, night vision equipment/infrared devices, and thermal detecting devices during day and night conditions. The chemiluminescent projectile comprises a body having reagents that produce both chemiluminescent and exothermic reactions that generate light and heat sufficient to act as a visual and thermal marker.

Low temperature activator systems and methods for chemiluminescent reactions

In some embodiments, the present invention is a chemiluminescent system, including: an oxalate system, including: (a) at least one oxalate ester, (b) at least one first solvent selected from the group consisting of alkyl benzoates, dialkyl phthalates, trialkyl acetylcitrates, 2-acetyloxy isobutyrates, paraffinic liquids, isoparaffinic liquids, toluene, nitroethane, and a combination thereof, (c) at least one second solvent selected from the group consisting of: dialkyl malonates, dialkyl dialkylmalonates, dialkyl arylalkylmalonates, dialkyl succinates, dialkyl glutarates, dialkyl adipates, dialkyl pimelates, dialkyl polyalkylmalonates and a combination thereof, (d) at least one fluorescer, and (e) at least one inorganic salt, and an activator system, including: (a) at least one peroxide, (b) at least one third solvent, (c) at least one fourth solvent, and (d) at least one catalyst.

Broad temperature performance chemiluminescent systems and methods

In some embodiments, the instant invention provides a chemiluminescent system, including: an oxalate system, including: (a) at least one oxalate ester in an amount ranging from 3 to 60 percent by weight based on a total weight of the oxalate system, (b) at least one first solvent selected from the group consisting of: alkyl benzoates, dialkyl phthalates, trialkyl acetylcitrates, 2-acetyloxy isobutyrates, paraffinic liquids, isoparaffinic liquids, toluene, nitroethane, in an amount ranging from 10 to 97 percent by weight based on the total weight of the oxalate system, (c) at least one second solvent is selected from the group consisting of: dialkyl malonates, dialkyl dialkylmalonates, dialkyl arylalkylmalonates, dialkyl succinates, dialkyl glutarates, dialkyl adipates, dialkyl pimelates, dialkyl polyalkylmalonates, (d) at least one fluorescer, and (e) at least one inorganic salt in an amount ranging from 0.1 to 30 percent by weight based on the total weight of the oxalate system.

Low temperature oxalate systems and methods for chemiluminescent reactions

In some embodiments, the instant invention provides a chemiluminescent system, including: an activator system, including: (a) at least one first catalyst including at least one benzyl amine; (b) at least one second catalyst including at least one of: (i) a salicylate derivative, and (ii) a benzoate derivative; (c) at least one first solvent, and (d) at least one peroxide, where the at least one first catalyst is present in an amount ranging from 1 to 99 percent by weight of a combination of the at least one first catalyst and the at least one second catalyst; where the at least one second catalyst is present in an amount ranging from 99 to 1 percent by weight of the combination of the at least one first catalyst and the at least one second catalyst; and where the chemiluminescent system has at least one chemiluminescent property.

A multiple-part marking system that comprises at least one first part comprising at least one oxalate ester, at least one fluorescer, and at least one inorganic salt chosen from sodium thiosulphate, potassium thiosulphate, cobalt acetate, copper acetate, lead acetate, cupric chloride, ferric chloride, calcium iodide, potassium iodide, and silver nitrate; and at least one second part comprising at least one peroxide and at least one catalyst chosen from sodium salicylate, lithium salicylate, 5-chlorolithium salicylate, triazoles (e.g., 1,2,3-triazole and 1,2,4-triazole), substituted triazoles (e.g., substituted 1,2,3-triazole and substituted 1,2,4-triazole), imidazoles, and substituted imidazoles. Light and heat are emitted when the two parts interact.

Chemical light producing systems and the chemiluminescent formulations contained therein are taught which exhibit reduced hydrolysis and thereby are characterized by an inherently long shelf-life and commercial viability. By replacing the typical oxalate ester, e.g. (bis{3,4,6-trichloro-2-[(pentoxy)carbonyl]phenyl}oxalate) with a branched chain oxalic acid ester represented by the general formula: 

Chemical light producing formulations and devices containing branched oxalate esters

Compounds are disclosed for the production of chemiluminescent light, particularly for the production of blue/violet light within the range of about 390 nm to less than 438 nm, and most particularly to the use of compounds composed of symmetrically and asymmetrically substituted anthracenes which are effective for increasing the production of such blue/violet light when used as fluorescers in conjunction with chemiluminescent systems. These systems utilize derivatives of 9,10-diphenylanthracene containing one or more fluorines As shown in General Formulae 1-3. The variables shown in Formulae 1-3 are defined in the specification.
