A method for multipoint data flow control, performed in a controller entity of a wireless communication system, comprises receiving of a data flow from a source flow queue. The data flow is split into split data flows, one for each of at least two wireless transmission points. Measures of timing skews for transmissions or quantities from which such timing skews can be deduced are received from each of the at least two transmission points. The data flow splitting is controlled in dependence of the timing skews. The split data flows are transmitted to the at least two wireless transmission points. A method for assisting in multipoint data flow control, network nodes configured for multipoint data flow control and assisting in multipoint data flow control, and computer programs therefore are also disclosed.

Multipoint data flow control

Recovery control is provided for recovering data packet flow control between a network node and a radio base station over a radio network interface. The base station communicates with at least one user equipment, UE, over a radio interface and measures information relating to a data transmission rate over the radio interface and an amount of a downlink packet queue in the base station associated with the UE communication. In one embodiment, the base station sends at least some of the measurement information to the network node. A process controller in the network node processes the measurement information to determine a desired amount to be stored in the downlink packet queue. The process controller determines a commanded bit rate to transmit data from the network node to the downlink packet queue based on the determined desired amount and transmits data to the radio base station in accordance with the commanded bit rate.

Methods and apparatuses for recovering data packet flow control against radio base station buffer run away

A Radio Network Controller, RNC, and a method performed by the RNC for managing the utilization of a RACH of a WCDMA communication network wherein the RNC is associated with an RBS, wherein the RACH is an uplink channel between UEs and the RBS are provided. The method comprises determining a current resource utilization level of the RACH; setting, based on the determined resource utilization, a value of at least one Radio Link Control, RLC, parameter that controls the disposition of a UE to transmit data on the RACH; and employing the at least one RLC parameter to at least one UE being in a Cell Forward Access Channel, CELL_FACH, state or entering into the CELL_FACH state.

Radio network controller and a method therein for managing a random access channel

Recovery control is provided for recovering data packet flow control between a network node () and a radio base station () over a radio network interface (). The base station communicates with at least one user equipment, UE, () over a radio interface () and measures information relating to a data transmission rate over the radio interface and an amount of a downlink packet queue () in the base station associated with the UE communication. In one embodiment, the base station sends at least some of the measurement information to the network node. A process controller () in the network node processes the measurement information to determine a desired amount to be stored in the downlink packet queue. The process controller determines a commanded bit rate to transmit data from the network node to the downlink packet queue based on the determined desired amount and transmits data to the radio base station in accordance with the commanded bit rate.

An exemplary scheduling system and method implemented in a base station comprises a modeling unit, a prediction unit, and a scheduling unit incorporated into a control loop. The modeling unit determines a modeled air-interface parameter by modeling, e.g., a load or interference parameter, associated with the mobile terminals during a current transmission interval based on an earlier set of scheduling grants generated for the mobile terminals. The prediction unit determines a predicted error for a subsequent transmission interval based on the modeled parameter and a measured parameter reported by the mobile terminals during the current transmission interval. The scheduling unit generates a new set of scheduling grants for the mobile terminals for the subsequent transmission interval based on the predicted error.

Closed control loop for uplink scheduling

A method may be provided to operate a node of a radio access network communicating with a wireless terminal. The wireless terminal may be configured to provide a transmit buffer for data to be transmitted to the node during transmission time intervals, to transmit packets of the data from the transmit buffer to the node during respective transmission time intervals, and to provide buffer indicator bits with respective packets of the data during the respective transmission time intervals. The method may include: receiving a packet including data and a buffer indicator bit from the wireless terminal during a respective transmission time interval; and providing an estimate of a quantity of data in the transmit buffer at the wireless terminal responsive to a status of the buffer indicator bit. Related wireless terminals and network nodes are also discussed.

In methods and devices for use in a radio base station of a cellular radio system, where the radio base station is arranged to control the power transmitted in the uplink by a user equipment by transmitting power control commands in the downlink to the user equipment striving to keep the received uplink Signal-to-Interference Ratio, SIR, at a given SIR target, the power transmitted is controlled by transmitting transmit power control commands in the downlink striving to keep the received uplink SIR at a corrected SIR target. The corrected SIR target can be a SIR target supplemented by a corrective term.

Methods and devices for power control

A method for implementing power loop control at a RBS controlled by an RNC includes receiving an SIR target at the RBS which is determined by the RNC for a mobile station in communication with the RBS. In a first mode, one or more transmit power control commands are generated at the RBS for issuance to the mobile station based on the SIR target received from the RNC. In a second mode, one or more transmit power control commands are generated at the RBS for issuance to the mobile station based on an SIR target determined by the RBS for the mobile station instead of the SIR target received from the RNC. Also in the second mode, artificial mobile station connection quality information is reported from the RBS to the RNC so that the SIR target determined by the RNC is adjusted in accordance with the SIR target determined by the RBS.
