Glass compositions include boron oxide (BO), lanthanum oxide (LaO), titania (TiO) and niobia (NbO) as essential components and may optionally include silica (SiO), tungsten oxide (WO), zirconia (ZrO), yttria (YO), bismuth oxide (BiO), barium oxide (BaO), TeOand other components. The glasses may be characterized by high refractive index at 587.56 nm at comparably low liquidus temperature.

High-index borate glasses

Natively colored glass housings having a glass article and/or glass articles include a first region and a second region. The second region includes a second thickness greater than a first thickness of the first region. The first CIE L* value is from 30 to 96. In aspects, a color difference dE94 between the first region and the second region is 1.0 or more, 4.5 or more, or 10 or more. In aspects, a first CIE a* value is −0.3 or less, and a first CIE b* value is 0.0 or more. In aspects, a first CIE a* value is from −10 to 20, and a first CIE b* value is from −70 to −5. In aspects, a first CIE a* value is 0 or more and a first CIE b* value is 5.0 or more.

Glass articles, natively colored glass housings, and methods of making the same

A glass composition includes greater than or equal to 60 mol % and less than or equal to 85 mol % SiO; greater than or equal to 0.5 mol % and less than or equal to 20 mol % AlO; greater than or equal to 0 mol % and less than or equal to 15 mol % LiO; greater than or equal to 0.5 mol % and less than or equal to 25 mol % NaO; greater than or equal to 0.1 mol % and less than or equal to 20 mol % KO; greater than or equal to 0 mol % and less than or equal to 10 mol % CaO; greater than or equal to 0 mol % and less than or equal to 10 mol % MgO; and greater than or equal to 0.005 mol % and less than or equal to 0.5 mol % Au.

Gold containing silicate glass

A glass composition having a content of SiOthat is greater than or equal to about 44.0 mol. % and less than or equal to about 60.0 mol. % and a content of ZnO that is less than or equal to about 1.0 mol. %. Additionally, the glass composition is essentially free of Pb and Bi. The glass composition also has a refractive index that is greater than or equal to 1.75 and a density that is less than or equal to about 4.5 g/cm.

Glass compositions with high refractive indexes and low densities

A glass composition includes SiO, AlO, BO, alkali metal oxides, alkaline earth oxides, TiO, CeO, FeO, and is provides a yellow-colored glass article.

Ion exchangeable yellow glass articles

Glasses containing silicon dioxide (SiO) and/or boron oxide (BO) as glass formers and having a refractive index nof greater than or equal to 1.7, as measured at 587.56 nm, and a density of less than or equal to 4.5 g/cm, as measured at 25° C., are provided. Optionally, the glasses may be characterized by a low optical dispersion, a high transmittance in the visible and near-ultraviolet (near-UV) range of the electromagnetic spectrum, and/or good glass forming ability.

Silicoborate and borosilicate glasses having high refractive index and low density

Glasses containing silicon dioxide (SiO) and/or boron oxide (BO) as glass formers and having a refractive index nof greater than or equal to 1.80, as measured at 587.56 nm, a density of less than or equal to 5.5 g/cm, as measured at 25° C., and a high transmittance to, particularly to blue light, are provided. Optionally, the glasses may be characterized by a high transmittance in the visible and near-ultraviolet (near-UV) range of the electromagnetic spectrum and/or good glass forming ability.

Silicoborate and borosilicate glasses having high refractive index and high transmittance to blue light

Disclosed herein are glasses that present several advantages over traditional glass compositions used in optical applications. The glasses disclosed herein have a low devitrification tendency and can be processed by melt quenching and formed into macroscopic components. The glasses have high glass thermal stability indices and are chemically durable. The glasses disclosed herein are transparent when heat treated in air or oxygen and have high refractive indices and low density, as well, making them suitable for optical applications.

High refractive index phosphate glass

In embodiments, a glass composition may include: greater than or equal to 71 mol. % and less than or equal to 83 mol. % SiO; greater than or equal to 1 mol. % and less than or equal to 11 mol. % AlO; greater than or equal to 5 mol. % and less than or equal to 18 mol. % alkali oxide, the alkali oxide comprising greater than 3 mol. % LiO and at least one of NaO and KO; greater than or equal to 1 mol. % and less than or equal to 8 mol. % alkaline earth oxide, the alkaline earth oxide comprising MgO and at least one of CaO, BaO, and SrO; and at least one of TiO, ZrO, HfO, LaOand YO, wherein TiO+ZrO+HfO+LaO+YOis greater than 0 mol. % and less than or equal to 6 mol. % and AlO+TiO+ZrO+HfO+LaO+YOis greater than or equal to 2 mol. % and less than or equal to 12 mol. %.

Chemically durable aluminosilicate glass compositions and glass articles formed therefrom

A glass composition includes greater than or equal to 60 mol % and less than or equal to 85 mol % SiO; greater than or equal to 0.5 mol % and less than or equal to 20 mol % AlO; greater than or equal to 0 mol % and less than or equal to 15 mol % LiO; greater than or equal to 0.5 mol % and less than or equal to 25 mol % NaO; greater than or equal to 0.1 mol % and less than or equal to 20 mol %(; greater than or equal to 0 mol % and less than or equal to 10 mol % CaO; greater than or equal to 0 mol % and less than or equal to 10 mol % MgO; and greater than or equal to 0.005 mol % and less than or equal to 0.5 mol % Au.

Optionally, the glasses may be characterized by a high transmittance in the visible and near-ultraviolet (near-UV) range of the electromagnetic spectrum and/or good glass forming ability.

Silicoborate and borosilicate glasses with high refractive index and low density

A glass pharmaceutical package having a glass composition of 68.00 mol % to 81.00 mol % SiO, from 4.00 mol % to 11.00 mol % AlO, from 0.10 mol % to 16.00 mol % LiO, from 0.10 mol % to 12.00 mol % NaO, from 0.00 mol % to 5.00 mol % KO, from 0.10 mol % to 8.00 mol % MgO, from 0.10 mol % to 5.00 mol % CaO, from 0.00 mol % to 0.20 mol % fining agent. The glass pharmaceutical package is delamination resistant, and has classor classchemical durability in acid, base, and water. The glass pharmaceutical package may have a surface compressive stress of at least 350 MPa.
