Techniques for calculating a per-tenant cost in a multi-tenant data storage system. In one example, a method comprises the following steps. One or more cost contribution factors associated with a storage provider entity operating a data storage system for a plurality of tenants of the data storage system are identified. One or more cost items chargeable to each of the plurality of tenants are identified, the one or more cost items being associated with usage of the data storage system by each of the plurality of tenants. The one or more cost contribution factors associated with the storage provider entity are correlated with the one and more chargeable cost items for each of the plurality of tenants. A respective cost value payable by each tenant is determined based on the correlation step. In one further example, the methodology calculates a fixed energy cost associated with storing tenant data and a dynamic energy cost associated with the tenant accessing the stored data.

Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to an apparatus and method for facilitating access to data in a distributed storage system by using a processing unit configured to collect information related to running status of the distributed storage system; obtain metadata related to data stored in the distributed storage system; in response to a request from a client, provide to the client the information related to running status and metadata related to data to be accessed; and extend storage nodes in the distributed storage system so that the client can directly access the storage nodes by using the information related to running status and the metadata related to data to be accessed. Facilitating access to data in distributed storage system

Transparent, fine-grained, and adaptive data compression is described. A system determines a first data chunk and a second data chunk in a persistent storage. The system determines a first data read count and/or a first data write count for the first data chunk, and a second data read count and/or a second data write count for the second data chunk. The system determines then a first data compression status for the first data chunk and a second data compression status for the second data chunk. Based on the first data compression status and second data compression status, the system stores data in the first data chunk and data in the second data chunk to the persistent storage.

Transparent, fine-grained and adaptive data compression

The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for data management in multi-tenant distributive environment. According to the embodiments of the present invention, a tenant-specific virtual metadata server may be created and registered with a task manager in a job processing system. The virtual metadata server provides a tenant-specific logical file system namespace. Any access to tenant data will be performed via the virtual metadata server. In other words, such virtual metadata server acts as an interface between a tenant terminal and an entity file system. In this way, it may effectively realize isolation of tenant data and enhance data security. Moreover, by using a virtual metadata server rather than physically isolating user data, the embodiments of the present invention may guarantee the efficiency of data sharing while improving the data security.

Data management in a multi-tenant distributive environment

A method and apparatus for managing network attached storage that includes detecting frequency of access from a client to a data item that is in a first server in the network attached storage, a global namespace of the network attached storage indicating an access address for accessing the data item, the access address including a first address of the data item in the first server; in response to the frequency being higher than a predetermined threshold, copying the data item from the first server to a second server in the network attached storage which is proximate to the client, so as to form a data image; and updating the global namespace so as to add to the access address a second address of the data image in the second server whereby the data access efficiency of the network attached storage can be considerably improved.

Managing network attached storage

Embodiments of the present disclosure disclose a method and an apparatus for configuring a data center. The method comprises obtaining a function call corresponding to data to be configured based on a template for configuring the data center; obtaining a vendor driver corresponding to the data based on the template for configuring the data center. The method further comprises configuring the data by the vendor driver executing the function call. Based on the embodiments of the present disclosure, the way of automatically configuring the data center based on the template may improve the efficiency and security for configuration of the data center.
