The present disclosure refers to systems and methods for producing hydrogen among other products. In some embodiments the methods comprise sequentially conducting a cracking step in a fixed bed mode and conducting a flowing step in a fluidized bed mode. Such sequential processes may result in a number of advantages including, for example, regenerating the catalyst during the fluidized bed mode in a manner such that beneficial heat is generated for use in the endothermic cracking step.

Alternating fixed and fluidized bed reactor systems and processes

The present disclosure refers to systems and methods for efficiently converting a C-Calkane such as natural gas to a liquid C-Cproduct and hydrogen. Generally, the process comprises flowing the C-Calkane through a plurality of tubes within a vessel wherein the tubes house a catalyst for converting the C-Calkane to the liquid C-Cproduct and hydrogen. The C-Calkane is heated under suitable conditions to produce the liquid C-Cproduct and hydrogen. Advantageously, the C-Calkane is heated by burning a fuel outside the tubes in fuel burning nozzles configured to transfer heat from the burning through the tubes.

Multi-tube reactor systems and processes for no-oxidative conversion of methane

A method includes heating a steam feed stream received from a reactor unit in a first heat exchanger using an anode effluent from an anode of an electrolyzer as a heat transfer medium to generate a first heated steam effluent, heating the first heated steam effluent in a second heat exchanger using a cathode effluent from a cathode of the electrolyzer as a heat transfer medium to generate a second heated steam effluent, combusting, in a combustion unit, a first tail gas stream to transfer heat to the second heated steam effluent to generate a third heated steam effluent, and passing the third heated steam effluent to the cathode of the electrolyzer.

Methods and systems for the conversion of carbon dioxide to chemicals and/or fuels utilizing steam electrolysis

A process is provided for removing organic chlorides from glyceride oil. The process includes the steps of (a) reacting a glyceride oil comprising organic chlorides with a liquid aqueous system at a temperature of at least 80&#xb0; C. to form a treated glyceride oil and (b) separating the treated glyceride oil from the liquid aqueous system. The treated glyceride oil has a reduced concentration of organic chlorides compared to the glyceride oil reacted in step (a).

Removing organic chlorides from glyceride oils

A workflow to optimize a fracturing fluid for injection into a subterranean formation is provided. The workflow comprises measurement of fundamental properties and characteristics of reservoir rock and fluid, their interaction with fracturing fluid, computer-based models and laboratory performance testing to select preferred fracturing base fluid and additives package for use in fracturing/re-fracturing stimulation of specific shale formations to enhance hydrocarbon recovery.

Processes and systems for characterizing and optimizing fracturing fluids

A crude oil which contains at least 0.1 wt % unstable sulfur compounds is treated in a reaction zone at low temperature to convert at least 50 wt % of the unstable sulfur compounds contained therein. The reaction and removal of sulfur from the crude may be facilitated by contacting the crude oil with a catalytic material in the presence of a stripping fluid.

Dimeric small molecule potentiators of apoptosis

A method for reducing mercaptan concentration in a crude oil is disclosed. The method comprises contacting the crude with a treating solution comprising a hypochlorite solution, whereby the mercaptan sulfur is oxidized and converted to at least one sulfur oxoacid or salt thereof, yielding a treated crude oil having less than 50 ppm mercaptan sulfur and residual organic chloride. The treated crude oil containing residual organic chloride is brought in contact with a caustic solution at a molar ratio of caustic to chloride of 0.1:1 to 50:1, generating an upgraded crude oil with less than 10 ppm organic chloride. In one embodiment, the spent treating solution is recycled to form a regenerated hypochlorite stream for use in the treatment solution.

Method for reducing mercaptans in hydrocarbons

Disclosed are embodiments relating to a process for reducing the total acid number of a hydrocarbon feed by contacting the feed with a metal titanate catalyst having an MTiOstructure wherein M is a metal having a valence of 2+, resulting in a hydrocarbon product having a final total acid number lower than the initial total acid number of the feed. The process is useful for pretreating high acid crudes prior to further processing thus avoiding corrosion of equipment used in refining operations. The process can be integrated into conventional refining operations in order to treat various refinery streams. In one embodiment, a process is provided for refining a low acid crude oil and a high acid crude oil by separately introducing a relatively low acid crude oil feed and a relatively high acid crude oil feed to an atmospheric distillation column, wherein the relatively high acid crude oil feed is contacted with a metal titanate catalyst prior to introduction to the atmospheric distillation column.

Process for reducing the total acid number of a hydrocarbon feed

A process useful for treating biologically derived oils in the production of biofuels is described. A biologically derived oil feed is deoxygenated by contacting the feed with a metal titanate catalyst comprising a metal titanate having an MTiOperovskite structure wherein M is a metal having a valence of 2+. The process does not require the addition of hydrogen.

Biofuel production through catalytic deoxygenation

A process is disclosed using a dispersion of supercritical fluid and oil to upgrade a hydrocarbon feedstock such as a heavy oil into an upgraded hydrocarbon product or synthetic crude with highly desirable properties such as low sulfur content, low metals content, lower density (higher API), lower viscosity, lower residuum content, etc. The process utilizes a capillary mixer to form the dispersion. The process does not require external supply of hydrogen nor does it use externally supplied catalysts.
