A display method for driving a color-sequential display of an electronic device is provided. When the electronic device is not at low power mode, a first image is displayed first by using a second color data and a first color data of the first image sequentially to drive the display. Next, a second image is displayed by using a second color data and a third color data of the second image sequentially to drive the display. When the electronic device is at low power mode, the respective luminance of the first and the second images are obtained. Then, the respective luminance of the first image and the second image are sequentially used to drive the display.

Color-sequential display method

A display apparatus has several light emitting elements and several lenses. The light emitting elements generate light of a first and second part of a frame respectively during a first and second period. The lenses pass through by the light from the light emitting elements, and operate to form images of the first and second part of the frame at a first and second location during the first and second period, respectively.

Projection type display apparatus

A method for frame rate up conversion. The method is executed by a frame rate up-converter. The frame rate up-converter receives a plurality of consecutive input video frames and detects luminance information for a current frame. The frame rate up-converter generates a first output frame according to the luminance information for the current frame and a preceding frame before the current frame and generates a second output frame according to the luminance information for the current frame and a succeeding frame after the current frame, wherein the second output frame is outputted after the first output frame.

Apparatus and method for frame rate up conversion

An image enhancement apparatus is provided. The image enhancement apparatus includes a global tone mapping curve generator, a local tone mapping curve generator, a reference gamma voltage generator and an image generator. The global tone mapping curve generator generates a global tone mapping curve for an input image according to global characteristic(s) of the input image. The local tone mapping curve generator generates a local tone mapping curve for each image partition within the input image according to the global tone mapping curve and further a feature of the image partition. The reference gamma voltage generator generates a plurality of reference gamma voltages for each image partition according to the corresponding local tone mapping curve for the image partition. The image generator generates an output image according to the reference gamma voltages of the image partitions and the input image.

Image enhancement method and apparatuses utilizing the same

A wafer and a test method thereof are provided. The invention utilizes a first group of probes to perform a high voltage stress (HVS) test on a first chip, and utilizes a second group of probes to perform a function test on a second chip, where a period of the high voltage stress test overlaps a period of the function test, thereby greatly decreasing the test time of the wafer.

A driving method and a transreflective display apparatus are provided herein. In the driving method, a plurality of voltage-to-transparency curves are provided. An ambient light intensity of the display apparatus is detected for determining a display mode, wherein the display mode is either a transmissive mode or a reflective mode. Next, one of the voltage-to-transparency curves is selected according to the display mode and the ambient light intensity for driving the display apparatus. Therefore, by referring a proper voltage-to-transparency curve to drive the display apparatus, the display quality of the display apparatus can be enhanced.

Transreflective display apparatus and driving method thereof

A source driving circuit includes a gamma voltage generator, a common voltage generator and a driver. The gamma voltage generator receives gamma data from a timing controller through reduced swing differential signaling (RSDS) transmission interface to generate corresponding gamma voltages. The common voltage generator receives common voltage data from the timing controller to generate a corresponding common voltage. The driver receives image data from the timing controller through the RSDS transmission interface, the gamma voltages from the gamma voltage generator and the common voltage from the common voltage generator for modifying the image data using the gamma voltages and the common voltage and transmitting the modified image data to a panel of the liquid crystal display.

Liquid crystal display and source driving circuit having a gamma and common voltage generator thereof

An overdrive system adaptable for a dynamic gamma generator is disclosed. A current gray-to-voltage converter (G/V) converts image data of a current frame from gray code to voltage level, and a previous gray-to-voltage converter (G/V) converts image data of a previous frame from gray code to voltage level. The voltage level of current frame and the voltage level of previous frame are inputted to an overdrive-voltage lookup table to retrieve an overdrive voltage level. Afterwards, a voltage-to-gray converter (V/G) converts the retrieved overdrive voltage level from voltage level back to gray code, resulting in an overdrive gray code. Accordingly, the overdrive gray code is compensated. Alternatively, the overdrive gray code is used to update an overdrive-gray-code lookup table, an output gray code of which is fed to the source driver.

A method of directing a viewer's attention in an image display to enhance the perceived image quality and thus the viewer's preference of the image is disclosed. An image with an area of interest (AOI) is provided. The AOI is briefly displayed for a first time period. Subsequently, the image is normally displayed in its entirety for a second time period that is longer than the first time period. As a result, the viewer's attention is involuntarily directed to the AOI in a subliminal manner.

An apparatus and a method for dynamic backlight-control in an electronic device are provided. The apparatus includes a battery power-level detection unit and a controlling unit. The battery power-level detection unit is used for detecting the power level of a battery in the electronic device. The controlling unit is coupled to a backlight unit of a display device in the electronic device and the battery power-level detection unit for adjusting the illumination of the backlight unit according to the power level of the battery and an image-content lightness of an image inputted into the display device.

Apparatus and method for dynamic backlight-control according to battery level and image-content lightness

A data transmitting method for inputting a data signal to an electronic device. The data signal includes first and second sets of data, and the electronic device includes first to fourth receiving units and corresponding first to fourth registers. The transmitting method includes the following steps. First, the first and second receiving units are disabled. Then, the first set of data is inputted to the electronic device through the third and fourth receiving units and stored in the third and fourth registers during a first clock cycle of a clock signal. Thereafter, the second set of data is inputted to the electronic device through the third and fourth receiving units and stored in the third and fourth registers while the first set of data stored in the third and fourth registers is inputted to the first and second registers during a second clock cycle of the clock signal.

A gate driving apparatus for driving a pixel array on a panel. The apparatus includes a driver chip having a first transistor with a gate coupled to receive a Nth gate driving signal, a source coupled to receive a first voltage and a drain coupled to a Nth scan line of the pixel array, and a driving circuit formed on the panel, providing a second voltage to the Nth scan line when the first transistor in the driver chip is turned off by the Nth gate driving signal and providing the first voltage to the Nth scan line when the first transistor is turned on by the Nth gate driving signal.

Gate driving apparatus

An interface circuit for data transmission and the method thereof is described. The interface circuit includes a transmitter providing data through first data signals during the data periods corresponding to rising and falling edges of a clock signal, a transition detection unit selectively asserting a detection signal in response to the number of the first data signals having transitions between every two adjacent data periods, a transition reduction unit generating second data signals by outputting the inverted and non-inverted first data signals respectively when the detection signal is asserted and de-asserted, and a receiver restoring the data from the second data signals and the detection signal.
