A locking apparatus is configured to lock a first panel and a second panel to a computer device. The locking apparatus includes a lock rotatable between a first position and a second position, a mounting panel, a driving lever pivotably attached on the mounting panel, a blocking member attached to the mounting panel, and a latch member. When moved to the first position, the rotatable post rotates the driving lever, the driving lever pushes the latch member to unlatch from the second panel, and the rotatable post is disengaged from the blocking member to unlock the first panel. When moved to the second position, the rotatable post is blocked by the blocking member for locking the first panel, the driving lever is rotated to its original position, and the latch member latches the second panel.

Locking apparatus for panels of computer device

A housing for a hard disk drive includes an enclosure defining a window in a front side thereof for providing access to install the hard disk drive in the enclosure, a rotation arm having a front end and a back end, and a panel. The back end of the rotation arm is pivotally connected to a rear end of the enclosure, and the panel is pivotally connected to the front end of the rotation arm. The rotation arm and the panel are pivotable between a locked state in which the panel covers the window of the enclosure and the rotation arm abuts a lateral side of the enclosure, and an open state in which the panel is pulled away from the enclosure to expose the window.

An exemplary housing for a hard disk drive includes an enclosure, a bracket slidably mounted in the enclosure, and a panel mounted to the bracket. The bracket supports the hard disk drive thereon. The panel includes a cover pivotably connected to the bracket and an operation bracket mounted to the cover. The panel can be rotated to a closed status where the operation bracket is pulled by a spring to lock with the enclosure, thereby to fix the cover to the enclosure. The panel can also be rotated to an open status where the operation bracket is detached from the enclosure, whereby the bracket can slide out of the enclosure to expose the hard disk drive.

A retention device includes a holder and an extractable casing mounted to the holder. The retention device includes a base, a cover opposite to the base, and a lateral plate extending from the base and interconnecting the base and the cover. The base, the side plates, and the cover cooperatively define a rectangular first cavity with an opening at a lateral side. The casing and the holder cooperatively define a second cavity. A size of the second cavity is less than that of the first cavity.
