An oral treatment device for dispensing an oral treatment composition onto a user's teeth. The oral treatment device may include a storage and delivery component and an applicator component. The storage and delivery component may include a body having a reservoir, a frangible capsule containing the oral treatment composition located in the reservoir, and a delivery member. The applicator component may include a pad portion formed of a liquid absorbing material. The applicator component may be alterable between an attached state whereby the delivery member is fluidly coupled to the pad portion and a detached state whereby the applicator component is detached from the storage and delivery component and can be placed into contact with the user's teeth. The frangible capsule may be in a sealed state until broken by a user at which point the oral treatment composition may flow into the pad portion of the applicator component.

Oral treatment device

Oral care compositions and methods for the same are provided herein. The oral care composition may include an orally acceptable vehicle, a peroxide whitening agent, and one or more gelling agents. The gelling agents may include a fatty acid. The gelling agents may be free or substantially free of fatty alcohols. The gelling agents may include at least one of palmitic acid, stearic acid, or mixtures thereof.

Anhydrous oral care compositions and methods for preventing phase separation in the anhydrous oral care composition are disclosed. The oral care composition may include an orally acceptable vehicle, a thickening system, and a whitening agent. The orally acceptable vehicle may include propylene glycol, and the thickening system may include a polymeric thickener. The polymeric thickener may be or include a copolymer of 2-acrylamidomethylpropanesulphonic acid or a salt thereof.

Oral care compositions and methods for increasing stability of the same

The method for preparing the compounds may include contacting a metal ion or salt thereof with an alkali metal polyphosphate salt in an aqueous medium. The method may also include adding a base to increase a pH of the aqueous medium.

The abrasive system may include at least one abrasive having a pellicle cleaning ratio (PCR) greater than or equal to 100.

An oral care composition and methods for whitening teeth are disclosed herein. The whitening composition may include an orally acceptable vehicle and one or more abrasives. The one or more abrasives may include at least one plant-based abrasive. The method for whitening teeth may include contacting the oral care composition with surfaces of the teeth at least twice a day for at least nine days.

Oral care compositions including plant-based abrasives and methods for the same

This application is directed to methods of assessing polymer deposition on dental surfaces using near infrared spectroscopy, providing a rapid and efficient method to screen for and identify optimal polymers for use in oral care formulations, (i) near infra red (IR) absorption of a dental substrate is measured in the absence of a polymer under test, and subsequently of the test sample comprising the dental substrate contacted with the test polymer. After washing or rinsing the test sample near IR of it is determined again (iii). The IR absorption of the test polymer itself is also measured (ii). Through the comparison of the three measurements (i), (ii), and (iii) the degree of deposition and retention of the test polymer on the test sample is determined.

Polymer screening methods

Methods for preparing high loading core shell silica (CSS) particles, or CSS particles having a relatively greater amount of surface active silicate groups than CSS particles prepared according to conventional methods is provided. The method may include contacting silica particles with a base having a first metal ion to produce core shell silica particles. Each of the core shell silica particles may include a silica core and a silicate of the first metal ion etched on a surface of the silica core. The method may also include contacting each of the core shell silica particles having the silicate of the first metal ion with an acidic aqueous solution including a metal salt having a second metal ion to produce core shell silica particles including the silica core and a silicate of the second metal ion on the surface of the silica core.
