The invention discloses an ultra-wideband (UWB) positioning system, UWB base stations (BSs), UWB tags and the operation methods thereof. Because the present invention uses a server aware of the positions of all BSs to determine the BSs that performs distance measurement, and the server assigns different time slots to each BS that performs distance measurement, the present invention can avoid collisions between the BSs in the process of distance measurement. Furthermore, because the tag can select a specific time slot to access the UWB positioning system by monitoring the UWB signals in the air, the present invention can reduce collisions between the tags. By carefully planning the system frames and subframes of the time division multiplexing system, and sophisticatedly arranging the operation timings of the BSs and the tags, the present invention provides practical and stable UWB positioning system, BSs, and tags.

The present invention discloses a positioning tag operation method includes the steps outlined below. The positioning tag is set in an initializing state to select an available positioning time interval within each positioning periods as a selected positioning time interval and broadcast a connection request signal therein. A time synchronization signal is received from a base station of the positioning system. The time synchronization signal includes information of an assigned positioning time interval corresponding to the positioning tag within each of the positioning periods is determined by the positioning tag, so as to set the positioning tag in a positioning state accordingly and stop receiving the time synchronization signal. The positioning signal is broadcasted in the assigned positioning time interval within each of the positioning periods in the positioning state, and the positioning signal is stopped to be broadcasted in the time other than the assigned positioning time interval within each of the positioning periods.

The invention provides a base station and a data retransmission method thereof. The data retransmission method includes the following steps: determining whether at least one data unit is delivered; in response to the at least one data units being undelivered, calculating data sizes corresponding to undelivered data units; determining a resource grant indication according to the data sizes, the resource grant indication being related to radio resources required for resending the undelivered data units; and sending the resource grant indication. In this way, the data units have a higher chance to be completely retransmitted, and signaling transmission can be reduced, thereby reducing transmission delay.
