Provide are a liquid crystal compound represented by formula I, and a liquid crystal mixture comprising the compound  A lateral trifluoromethyl-containing liquid crystal compound having the structural characteristics of Formula I not only has a negative dielectric anisotropy (&#x394;&#x3b5;), an appropriate optical anisotropy (&#x394;n), a higher clearing point (CP), a prominent low-temperature miscibility with other liquid crystals, and a low rotary viscosity (&#x3b3;1), but also has a good stability to UV and high temperatures, particularly, a negative dielectric anisotropy. Same can be applied to the formulation of liquid crystal compositions of positive and negative types, and it is particularly prominent that same has the advantages of a good solubility at low temperatures and a high transmittance.

A stabilizer represented by formula I, wherein M represents cyclopentyl, cyclobutyl or cyclopropyl; Zand Zeach independently represent a single bond, &#x2014;CH&#x2014;, &#x2014;CHCH&#x2014;, &#x2014;O&#x2014;, &#x2014;CHO&#x2014;, &#x2014;OCH&#x2014; or &#x2014;COO&#x2014;;  represents one or two of  and n represents 0, 1 or 2.

Further provided is a liquid crystal composition comprising the liquid crystal compound represented by formula I, the liquid crystal composition having a good stability against light and heat, a lower viscosity, a wider refractive index that may be achieved by the adjustment of the monomer ratio, and a higher clearing point (a very wide service temperature range), and in particular, the liquid crystal composition has a higher light transmittance, thus allowing a display device to have a higher brightness or an energy saving effect.
