An apparatus and method for improved data speeds for wireless device are discloses. The wireless device locates at a first location within a first cell, and detects a failure to acquire SIB of the first cell. A waiting period is started in response to the failure to prohibit selecting the first cell during the waiting period. After determining that the wireless device has left a vicinity of the first location in the first cell, the wireless device connects to the telecommunication network via the first cell before an expiration of the waiting period. According to the disclosure, the wireless device does not need to wait for the expiration of the waiting period before recom1ecting to the first cell. The wireless device does not need to connect to a lower data rate cell during the waiting period when the first cell is available. The user experience is improved.

Apparatus and method for improved data speeds for wireless devices

A processing device and associated method are provided for receiving a connection request from an application running as a background process on a wireless communication device, and determining whether one or more random access procedure criteria of a random access procedure is met. The random access procedure establishes a communication connection of the wireless communication device for the connection request. In response to the determination that the one or more random access procedure criteria is met, at least one aspect of the random access procedure is restricted, utilizing one or more processors. Further, the random access procedure is performed with a restriction of the at least one aspect to establish the communication connection for the connection request.

In response to detecting a failure of the first request, a second radio access technology is utilized to connect to the telecommunication network before an expiration of a timer. Such second radio access technology has a second priority that is lower than the first priority and a second data rate that is lower than the first data rate. Further, in response to detecting that the wireless communication device has moved to a second area associated with a second base station before the expiration of the timer, a second request is sent via the second base station that implements the first radio access technology for utilizing the first radio access technology to connect to the telecommunication network before the expiration of the timer.

In operation, information is identified in connection with a mobile communication device being serviced by a first cell of a network utilizing a first frequency with a first priority. Based on such determination, reselection is conditionally caused for the mobile communication device in connection with a second cell of the network utilizing a second frequency with a second priority.

A method and apparatus for reporting events in a machine-to-machine environment are provided. Upon detection of an event, a determination is made whether to report the event with or without a delay. If the event is to be reported with a delay, then reporting is delayed for a period of time. If an event notification is received prior to the expiration of the delay period, then the reporting of the event may be canceled as event has already been reported by another element. If not, then another determination is made whether to report the event with or without another delay. This process continues until either the event has been reported or an event notification corresponding to the event has been received from another element.

A method and system for multicast and broadcast system (MCBCS) mapping and delivery to support MCBCS services is provided. Media content flows are assigned a media content identifier grouped into one or more multicast and broadcast system (MBS) services, wherein each MBS service is assigned an MBS service ID. An MBS content ID (MCID) is assigned to each MBS service. Data packets are formed that include the MBS service information (e.g., the media content flows) and classification/synchronization rules. A data path ID (DPID) is assigned to one or more MBS services dependent upon the destination of the data packets. Frames for transmission are then created and transmitted via radio frequencies. Optionally, a logical channel ID (LCID) may be assigned to each media content flow, if more than one media content flow is included within an MBS service.

MCBCS mapping and delivery to support MCBCS services

A method and system for multicast and broadcast system (MCBCS) synchronization and macro diversity is provided. In an embodiment, an MBS Proxy creates the necessary messages with synchronization rules embedded therein. The messages are provided to an MBS Distributed DPF and a base station, which performs a final PHY frame construction for transmission. In another embodiment, the MBS Proxy provides the necessary information to the base station and the base station creates the messages, including the synchronization rules. In yet another embodiment, the base station receives raw IP packet information and synchronization information. In this last embodiment, the base station creates the packets and frames based on the information provided to it.

Additionally, the method includes obtaining a plurality of addresses for the access terminal. The plurality of address includes a first address and a second address. The first address is associated with a first priority level. The second address is associated with a second priority level. The method additionally includes storing the plurality address by a home agent. The method also includes initiating a handoff process for switching from the first connectivity node to a second connectivity node.
