A system may receive a first list of users of a provider network. For each of the first list of users, the system may obtain data pertaining to the user's categories of interest from a social media system; infer video programs based on the data; infer a list of one or more video channels based on the video programs; score the one or more video channels; rank the list of one or more video channels based on the scores; and recommend the ranked list of one or more video channels.

A device may be configured to store interactive program guide (IPG) data for generating an IPG. The IPG data may include information related to a media content service for providing media content and including information related to a home automation service for managing a home device. The device may receive input information from a media client device that causes display of the IPG. The input information may indicate an input related to the home device. The device may generate a part of the IPG related to the home automation service based on the input information and a part of the IPG data. The device may obtain home device information from a management server based on the input information. The device may provide the home device information and the part of the IPG to the media client device for display.

The present disclosure relates to systems and methods for providing bandwidth-on-demand telecommunications services over next-generation optical transport networks (NG-OTN). One embodiment of a system providing bandwidth-on-demand services includes a next-generation optical transport network (NG-OTN) having an intelligent control plane (ICP) and new-generation synchronous optical network (NG-SONET) capabilities. A next-generation operation support subsystem (NG-OSS) is communicatively coupled to the NG-OTN. The NG-OTN and the NG-OSS are configured to provide the bandwidth-on-demand services.

Policy-based, on-demand provisioning of optical transport bandwidth is disclosed. In one of many possible embodiments, a system is provided for policy-based, on-demand provisioning of optical transport bandwidth. The system includes a layer-specific operation support subsystem (OSS) configured to manage network elements that form a sub-network over an optical transport network. The optical transport network provides bandwidth-on-demand provisioning capabilities. The layer-specific OSS includes one or more predefined bandwidth provisioning policies. The layer-specific OSS is configured to selectively request on-demand provisioning of bandwidth on the sub-network based on the predefined bandwidth provisioning policies.

Systems and methods for policy-based intelligent provisioning of optical transport bandwidth

A local router for a home network pairs with a mobile device via a local network connection. The local router is also connected to a wide area network. The local router receives, from the mobile device and over the local network connection, configuration settings for a backup path for the wide area network. The backup path includes the local network connection and a mobile broadband connection using the mobile device. The local router detects an interruption with the local router's connection to the managed wide area network and forwards, based on the detecting, critical traffic from the home network via the backup path.

Back-up path for in-home diagnostics and other communications

One or more servers may receive, from a first server, a first list of timeslots; receive, from a second server, a second list of timeslots; store the first list of timeslots and the second list of timeslots to form a shared list of timeslots; receive an update to the shared list of timeslots by the first server or by the second server; store the update to the shared list of timeslots; receive a first schedule from the first server; and receive a second schedule from the second server. The first server may generate the first schedule and the second server may generate the second schedule based on information stored by the shared list of timeslots. The one or more servers may provide a particular content file to a user device in accordance with information associated with the first schedule or the second schedule.

An approach for enabling load efficient delivery of updates and other content to mobile devices is described. A device management platform determines to communicate with a mobile device configured to operate over a cellular network and a local area network, wherein the local area network includes a customer premise gateway. The device management platform also initiates establishment of a multicast session with the mobile device via the customer premise gateway and over the local area network.

Method and system for enabling multicast distribution of mobile device update data

A device receives a request for an advertisement from a set-top box (STB) displaying television content in a high definition format, and provides, to the STB, the advertisement in a standard definition format, where the high definition format includes a resolution higher than a resolution of the standard definition format. The device also determines whether the STB converts the advertisement from the standard definition format to the high definition format. When the STB fails to convert the advertisement from the standard definition format to the high definition format, the device generates a first error code and instructs the STB to continue to display the television content, without interruption, in the high definition format.

The introduction of automation of the testing configuration and the extensive use of protocol adaptation to provide a consistent user interface for the test apparatus across multiple vendor implementations through the use of programmable adapter modules facilitates systematic and efficient testing. Proper functionality of a given optical switch implementation, quantification of a system's parameters and determination of switching performance measures can be obtained. Capabilities are built into the analysis engine for the determination of Service Level Agreement (SLA) parameters that can be provided for the optical layer or as input to calculations of SLA at higher-level protocols. The automated apparatus provides an efficient tool for evaluating and comparing DWDM optical switching devices, e.g., devices from different manufactures, which use different switch control protocols.
