Apparatuses, methods and storage medium associated with deriving power output from an energy harvester are disclosed herein. In embodiments, an apparatus may include one or more processors, devices, and/or circuitry to identify a plurality of times at which an intermediate voltage of a two stage power conversion circuit corresponds to a voltage reference, and ascertain an amount of time between one of the identified times and another one of the identified times. The one or more processors, devices, and/or circuitry may derive a power or current value associated with the second power supply using the amount of time.

Deriving power output from an energy harvester

An electronic device may include a battery charger and a controller. The battery charger may receive a voltage from an energy source, and may provide an output power. The controller may receive a voltage value of the energy source, may receive a current value from the battery charger or the energy source, may determine a power value based on the received voltage value and the received current value, and may provide at least one control signal to the battery charger to change the output power of the charger.

Control of output power of a battery charger for charging a battery of an electronic device from an energy source

In an embodiment, a system includes controller circuitry to initiate a plurality of energy transfer cycles. Each energy transfer cycle includes an input time period during which corresponding input energy is received by a power train, and an output time period during which corresponding output energy is output from the power train. The system also includes energy detection logic to provide, upon completion of each energy transfer cycle, a corresponding indication of corresponding residual energy retained by the power train. Apparatus and method for reduced energy retention in an energy transfer system

Systems and methods may provide for an energy harvester to power a mobile device. The energy harvester may include an energy harvesting portion to generate electrical power. At least one sensor may measure an environmental condition relating to generation of electrical power by the energy harvesting portion. A controller may generate a signal based on the measured environmental condition by the at least one sensor to the mobile device. Alternatively the signals from the at least one sensor are place in a memory on the energy harvester. In one example, the controller determines the power generated by the energy harvester and the controller signal includes this power information.

In embodiments, apparatuses, methods and systems associated with battery charging are disclosed herein. In various embodiments, a reference current selector may receive a battery voltage sense input and output a reference current level signal, a power point check detector may receive a power supply sense input and output a power point check signal, and a controller coupled to the reference current selector and the power point check detector may receive a battery current sense input and switch a control output based at least in part on the reference current level signal, the battery current sense input, and the power point check signal. Systems and methods may provide for a transient response apparatus that includes a single stage conversion module having a power input, a power output, and a control input, and a compensation module including a feedback input. The compensation module may be coupled to the power input, the power output and the control input of the single stage conversion module. Additionally, a feedback module may be coupled to the power output of the single stage conversion module and the feedback input of the compensation module. In one example, the feedback module includes a loop controller having a plurality of programmable inputs and an error output, and a modulus unit coupled to the error output of the loop controller and the feedback input of the compensation module.

Methods and apparatus relating to controlling the supply of power to computing devices with dynamically variable energy capacity are described. In one embodiment, logic causes modification to supply of power from a power source to one or more loads in response to a comparison of an output of the power source and a threshold value. The output of the power source may vary over a time period (e.g., oscillating) that causes the one or more loads to become inoperational. Other embodiments are also disclosed and claimed.

Universal charger

An apparatus and method is described herein for providing a dynamic pulse scheme for a voltage supply. A load (current) demand event of a processor is either predicted and/or detected. In response to the current demand event, such as a change in the current demand; a temporary, transient voltage pulse is generated by a voltage supply to compensate for the current transient demand. As result, dynamic voltage supply pulses generated based on the load current or the prediction of the load current demand increases performance, decreases power consumption, and saves expensive addition of compensation components, such as capacitors to a processor package.

In some embodiments, a voltage regulator device may include a switched capacitor voltage regulator to receive an input voltage and to provide an output voltage to a load, and a control unit to receive information related to a desired output voltage for the switched capacitor voltage regulator and to determine a desired input voltage for the switched capacitor voltage regulator based on the desired output voltage and selected operation mode or modes of switched capacitor voltage regulator.
