Values of an R-to-end-of-T interval and an RR interval for multiple ECG cycles of a patient are obtained. Based on the values, a relationship between the RR interval and the R-to-end-of-T interval or another variable derived therefrom is computed, the relationship being for use in computing a delay from an R-peak of any subsequent ECG cycle of the patient to a time window in which to apply PFA to the patient's heart such that the time window is expected to start after an end of a T-wave of the subsequent ECG cycle and to end prior to a QRS-wave immediately following the subsequent ECG cycle. Subsequently, during a PFA procedure, a current cycle length or heart rate of the patient is obtained, the delay is computed, using the relationship, based on the current cycle length or heart rate, and PFA is applied during the time window following the delay.

Pulsed field ablation synchronization

A switching assembly for transferring trains of pulses, including a first terminal and a second terminal. A first plurality of first relays is connected in parallel, and have first contacts connected to the first assembly terminal, and second contacts. A first capacitor is connected in parallel with the first relays. A second plurality of second relays is connected in parallel, and have third contacts, and fourth contacts connected to the second assembly terminal. A second capacitor is connected in parallel with the second relays. A connection connects the second contacts to the third contacts. The pulses have amplitudes of at least 2 kilovolts. On activation of the first and second relays the first and second contacts connect and the third and fourth contacts connect, so that the first and second assembly terminals connect. On deactivation of the first and second relays the first and second assembly terminals disconnect.

High power multiplexer with low power components

A medical apparatus includes a probe, which includes an insertion tube configured for insertion into a body cavity of a patient, and a distal assembly, which is connected distally to the insertion tube and includes a plurality of electrodes, which are configured to contact tissue within the body cavity. The apparatus further includes an electrical signal generator, which is configured to apply electrical pulses to a group of two or more of the electrodes with an amplitude sufficient to irreversibly electroporate the tissue contacted by the electrodes in the group, and a controller, which is coupled to measure a change in an electrical impedance between an electrode in the group and a further electrode as a result of application of the electrical pulses and to output a measure of ablation of the tissue responsively to the measured change in the electrical impedance.

Impedance-based ablation index for ire

A system includes a catheter, a pulse generator and a controller. The catheter is configured for insertion into a body of a patient, and includes at least a first electrode, a second electrode and a third electrode, which are disposed at a distal end of the catheter and are configured to contact tissue within the body. The pulse generator is configured to apply one or more bipolar ablation pulses between the first and second electrodes, for ablating the tissue in contact with the first and second electrodes. The controller is configured to: (i) control the pulse generator to apply the one or more bipolar ablation pulses between the first and second electrodes, (ii) receive a signal indicative of a voltage, measured between the third electrode and a reference during application of the ablation pulses, and (iii) issue a notification in response to detecting that the voltage violates a predefined criterion.

Detecting contact and proximity between ablation electrodes by sensing changes in voltage morphology of non-activated electrodes

A medical apparatus includes a probe configured for insertion into a body of a patient and including three or more electrodes arrayed along a distal portion of the probe and configured to contact tissue within the body. An electrical signal generator is configured to apply between a selected pair of the electrodes signals having an amplitude sufficient to ablate the tissue contacted by the pair of the electrodes. A controller is configured to measure an electrical current flowing through at least one of the electrodes not included in the selected pair while applying the signals, and to issue a notification indicating that the tissue was inadequately ablated if the measured electrical current exceeds a preset threshold.
