Twin-beam base station antennas are provided. A twin-beam base station antenna includes a plurality of vertical columns of radiating elements that are configured to transmit radio frequency signals in a frequency band. The radiating elements have bent metal radiator arms including tip portions that face respective center axes of the radiating elements.

Base station antennas having bent radiator arms

A four-port RF hybrid coupler includes a substrate having first and second primary traces and first and second coupled traces on a first surface thereof. The first coupled trace has: (i) a first end configured to provide a first degree of RF coupling to a first end of the first primary trace when the RF hybrid coupler is active, and (ii) a second end configured to provide a third degree of RF coupling to a second end of the second primary trace when the RF hybrid coupler is active. The second coupled trace has: (i) a first end configured to provide a fourth degree of RF coupling to the first end of the second primary trace when the RF hybrid coupler is active, and (ii) a second end configured to provide a second degree of RF coupling to the second end of the first primary trace when the RF hybrid coupler is active. First and second energy cancellation circuits are also provided. The first energy cancellation circuit includes a first termination coupler having an input port electrically coupled to an end of the second coupled trace, and the second energy cancellation circuit includes a second termination coupler having an input port electrically coupled to an end of the first coupled trace.

Compact hybrid couplers having strong broadband coupling for base station antenna systems

Base station antennas are provided. A base station antenna includes a reflector having a first surface and a second surface that is opposite the first surface. The antenna includes first and second feed boards having first and second integrated beamforming networks, respectively, on the first surface of the reflector. The antenna includes a first plurality of high-band radiating elements that extend forward from the first feed board. The antenna includes a second plurality of high-band radiating elements that extend forward from the second feed board. Moreover, the antenna includes a plurality of low-band radiating elements on the first surface of the reflector.

Twin-beam base station antennas having integrated beamforming networks

A base station antenna includes a calibration circuit that has a plurality of pairs of directional couplers and an antenna array that includes a plurality of columns of radiating elements. The first polarization radiators of the radiating elements in each column are electrically connected to a first directional coupler of a respective one of the pairs, and the second polarization radiators of the radiating elements in the column are electrically connected to a second directional coupler of the respective one of the pairs. The directional couplers may be arranged in a manner that reduces in-column coupling and/or that reduces cross-column coupling between adjacent columns of radiating elements.

Base station antennas having calibration circuit connections that provide improved in-column and/or adjacent cross-column isolation

Base station antenna calibration boards are provided. A base station antenna calibration board includes directional couplers and radio frequency (RF) transmission lines that are coupled to the directional couplers, respectively. Moreover, a first pair of the directional couplers has a coupler section that is between and coupled to a first pair of the RF transmission lines and that has a non-rectangular interior shape. Related base station antennas are also provided.

Antenna calibration boards having non-uniform coupler sections

A coupling device includes a plurality of couplers. Each coupler includes a transmission main line and a coupling subline. The transmission main line is used for providing an input end and an output end. The coupling subline is coupled with the transmission main line to provide two coupling ends. The coupling subline includes two first parts located on opposite sides of the transmission main line and a second part connected between the two first parts. The coupling sublines of the plurality of couplers are connected in series to provide a first coupling output port and a second coupling output port. The first part of the coupling subline of at least one of the plurality of couplers has a shared section with the second part of the coupling subline of an adjacent one of the plurality of couplers.

Antenna calibration device

Base station antennas are provided. A base station antenna includes a first array of radiating elements and a second array of radiating elements that is interleaved with the first array. Each of the first and second arrays has a plurality of non-rectangular sub-arrays that include radiating elements in one or more outer columns and radiating elements in an inner column that is between the first and second outer columns.

Base station antennas having multi-column sub-arrays of radiating elements

Antennas include first and second radiating elements that are configured to operate in respective operating frequency bands. The first radiating element includes a first dipole arm that has a first conductive path and a second conductive path that is positioned behind the first conductive path. The first conductive path includes a plurality of first segments and the second conductive path includes a plurality of second segments, where a subset of the first segments overlap respective ones of second segments to form a plurality of pairs of overlapping first and second segments. At least some of the pairs of overlapping segments are configured so that the instantaneous direction of a first current formed on the first segment in response to RF radiation emitted by the second radiating element will be substantially opposite the instantaneous direction of a second current formed on the second segment in response to the RF radiation.

Broadband decoupling radiating elements and base station antennas having such radiating elements

A feed network includes an adjustable electromechanical phase shifter that comprises a main printed circuit board and a phase shifting unit. The adjustable electromechanical phase shifter is configured to shift the phase of an RF signal that is input to the feed network and provide the phase shifted RF signal to at least one radiating element that is positioned on a first side of a reflector of an antenna, where the phase shifting unit is formed on the surface of a first side of the main printed circuit board, and the first side of the main printed circuit board is a side that is closer to the at least one radiating element, and the main printed circuit board is positioned on the first side of the reflector.

Feed network and antenna

A patch antenna comprises a multilayer printed circuit board that includes a calibration network, an array of patch radiators and a feed network. In some embodiments, the multilayer printed circuit board includes a plurality of dielectric substrates, wherein the array of patch radiators is provided on a dielectric substrate different from the dielectric substrate on which the calibration network is provided, and the dielectric substrate provided with the array of patch radiators is provided above the dielectric substrate provided with the calibration network.

Antenna systems are provided. An antenna system includes a beamforming array having a plurality of vertical columns of radiating elements that are each configured to transmit at least three antenna beams per polarization. Moreover, the antenna system includes a beamforming radio having a plurality of radio frequency ports per polarization that are coupled to and fewer than the vertical columns.

Base station antennas are provided herein. A base station antenna includes a plurality of vertical columns of low-band radiating elements configured to transmit RF signals in a first frequency band. The base station antenna also includes a plurality of vertical columns of high-band radiating elements configured to transmit RF signals in a second frequency band that is higher than the first frequency band. The vertical columns of high-band radiating elements extend in parallel with the vertical columns of low-band radiating elements in a vertical direction.

Multi-band base station antennas having integrated arrays

In order to reduce large sidelobes that may result from using a base station antenna with increased electronic downtilt, base station antennas according to the present disclosure may have a plurality of modules in which the columns of radiating elements of at least one of the modules are staggered or offset with respect to each other. For example, a multi-beam cellular antenna may include an antenna array having a plurality of modules, each module comprising at least three columns of radiating elements each having first polarization radiators, wherein the columns of radiating elements of at least one of the modules are staggered with respect to each other; and an antenna feed network configured to couple at least a first input signal and a second input signal to each first polarization radiator of each of the radiating elements included in a first of the plurality of modules.
