The various implementations described herein include methods and systems for coding video. In one aspect, a video bitstream includes a current image frame having a current coding block and signals a first syntax element for a residual template cross-component residual model (RT-CCRM) mode. When the RT-CCRM mode is enabled, the computing system identifies, in the current coding block, a first chroma sample and one or more luma samples corresponding to the first chroma sample, determines one or more residuals of the one or more luma samples in the current coding block, and applies a residual filter corresponding to the RT-CCRM mode to generate a first residual of the first chroma sample based on the residuals of the one or more luma samples. The computing system reconstructs the current image frame by compensating a predicted chroma sample with at least the first residual to reconstruct the first chroma sample.

Cross-component residual prediction by using residual template

The various implementations described herein include methods and systems for coding video. In one aspect, a method includes receiving a video bitstream that includes encoded video data; obtaining information indicating two or more different clipping ranges for the encoded video data; deriving the two or more different clipping ranges based on the obtained information; performing a first clipping operation on a first portion of the encoded video data based on a first clipping range of the two or more different clipping ranges; and performing a second clipping operation on a second portion of the encoded video data based on a second clipping range different from the first clipping range.

Different ranges for clipping processes for video and image compression

The various implementations described herein include methods and systems for coding video. In one aspect, a method includes receiving a video bitstream that includes encoded video data and one or more syntax elements indicating one or more clipping ranges. The method includes deriving, based on the one or more syntax elements, the one or more clipping ranges for a portion of the encoded video data. Each of the one or more clipping ranges modifies a range of sample values of the received video bitstream. The method includes performing one or more clipping operations on the encoded video data using the derived one or more clipping ranges.

Adaptive range for clipping processes for video and image compression

An example method of video coding includes receiving a video bitstream that includes a plurality of blocks and a plurality of quantized transform coefficients. The method includes deriving a dequantized transform coefficient for a first quantized transform coefficient of the plurality of quantized transform coefficients. The method also includes obtaining an adjusted transform value by applying an offset value to the dequantized transform coefficient, the adjusted transform value based on a quantized transform coefficient level and a current state of dequantization. The method further includes reconstructing a first block using the adjusted transform value.

Systems and methods for dependent quantization based on current dequantization states

The various embodiments described herein include methods and systems for encoding and decoding video. In one aspect, a method includes receiving a video bitstream comprising a plurality of blocks, including a first block, where the first block includes a plurality of subblocks. The method also includes determining, based on a syntax element value in the video bitstream, that the first block is predicted in a subblock mode. The method further includes, in accordance with the first block being predicted in the subblock mode: deriving a set of motion vector predictors (MVPs) corresponding to a plurality of subblocks of the first block; deriving a set of motion vector differences (MVDs) for the plurality of subblocks; determining a set of motion vectors for the plurality of subblocks by applying the set of MVDs to the set of MVPs; and reconstructing the first block using the set of motion vectors.
