Apparatus and methods are described for use of a sensor for monitoring a subject generate a sensor signal in response to the monitoring. Also disclosed is a computer processor to analyze the signal, and in response thereto, identify a correspondence between positions of the subject and occurrences of health events of the subject, and generate an output on the output device, in response to the identified correspondence. Other applications are also described.

Apparatus and methods for monitoring a subject

Apparatus and methods are described for monitoring a subject. A sensor monitors the subject and generates a sensor signal in response thereto and a plurality of filters are used to filter the sensor signal using respective filter parameters. A computer processor receives the sensor signal, filters the signal with each of two or more of the filters, and in response to a quality of each of the filtered signals, selects one of the plurality of filters to filter the sensor signal. Subsequently, the computer processor detects that the subject has undergone motion, by analyzing the sensor signal, and in response thereto, filters the signal with each of two or more of the filters, and in response to a quality of each of the filtered signals, selects one of the plurality of filters to filter the sensor signal. Other applications are also described.

Apparatus and methods are described for monitoring a female subject. A sensor is configured to monitor the subject without contacting the subject or clothes the subject is wearing, and without viewing the subject or clothes the subject is wearing, and to generate a sensor signal in response to the monitoring. A computer processor is configured to receive the sensor signal, and to analyze the sensor signal. In response to the analyzing, the computer processor is configured to automatically identify a menstrual state of the subject, and to generate an output in response thereto. Other applications are also described.

Menstrual state monitoring

Apparatus and methods are described including apparatus for monitoring a female subject that includes a sensor, configured to monitor the subject without requiring compliance of the subject, and to generate a sensor signal in response to the monitoring. A computer processor is configured to receive the sensor signal, analyze the sensor signal, in response to the analyzing, identify whether the subject is in a pregnant state or a non-pregnant state, and generate an output in response thereto. Pregnancy state monitoring

Apparatus comprising an ultrasound ablation system, which comprises a reflection-facilitation element, configured to be placed at an extramyocardial site of a subject, and to provide an extramyocardial reflective region; and an ultrasound tool, which comprises at least one ultrasound transducer configured to be positioned within a heart chamber of the subject. The ultrasound transducer is configured to ablate myocardial tissue by applying ultrasound energy to the myocardial tissue such that at least a portion of the transmitted energy is reflected by the reflective region onto the myocardial tissue. Other embodiments are also described.

Reflectance-facilitated ultrasound treatment and monitoring

Apparatus is provided for ablating cardiac tissue of a subject. The apparatus comprises an inflatable element, configured to be transthoracically placed within a pericardial region of the subject and a reflection-facilitation element, configured to deliver a fluid to the pericardial region, such that a portion of the fluid is disposed within the inflatable element, and another portion of the fluid is disposed outside of the inflatable element and inside the pericardial region. The apparatus additionally comprises at least one ultrasound transducer, configured to be transcatheterally placed in a heart chamber of the subject, and to apply ultrasound energy such that at least a portion of the applied energy is reflected by the fluid. Other embodiments are also described.

Sensor

Apparatus is described for use with a burglar alarm that includes a detector configured to detect activity and to generate an activity-detection signal in response thereto. A sensor monitors a resting surface and generates a signal in response thereto. A control unit identifies a correspondence between (a) the activity-detection signal, and (b) the signal that is generated by the sensor. The control unit inhibits the burglar alarm from being triggered, in response to the correspondence. Other applications are also described.

Burglar alarm control

Apparatus comprising an ultrasound ablation system (), which comprises a reflection-facilitation element (), configured to be placed at an extramyocardial site of a subject, and to provide an extramyocardial reflective region; and an ultra-sound tool (), which comprises at least one ultrasound transducer () configured to be positioned within a heart chamber of the subject. The ultrasound transducer () is configured to ablate myocardial tissue by applying ultrasound energy to the myocardial tissue such that at least a portion of the transmitted energy is reflected by the reflective region onto the myocardial tissue. Other embodiments are also described.

A method comprising providing a reflective region at a far side of tissue of a subject is provided. The method includes assessing whether the reflective region is in a desired location, by means of acoustic sensing; and in response to assessing that the reflective region is in the desired location, activating an ultrasound transducer to ablate the tissue by applying ultrasound energy to a near side of the tissue, such that at least a portion of the transmitted energy is reflected by the reflective region onto the tissue of the subject. Other embodiments are also described.

Apparatus is provided that includes an ultrasound ablation system, which includes a reflection-facilitation element, configured to be placed at an extramyocardial site of a subject, and to provide an extramyocardial reflective region. The system further includes an ultrasound tool, which comprises at least one ultrasound transducer configured to be positioned within a heart chamber of the subject, and to ablate myocardial tissue by applying ultrasound energy to the myocardial tissue such that at least a portion of the transmitted energy is reflected by the reflective region onto the myocardial tissue. Reflectance-facilitated ultrasound treatment

Apparatus is provided, including a housing, adapted for placement on tissue of a subject, and a plurality of transducers, disposed at respective locations with respect to the housing, and configured to transmit energy towards each other, in a plane defined by the housing.

Device for ultrasound monitored tissue treatment

A method of slice selective multiple quantum magnetic resonance imaging of an object is disclosed. The method is effected by implementing the steps of (a) applying a radiofrequency pulse sequence selected so as to select a coherence of an order n to the object, wherein n is zero, a positive or a negative integer other than &plusmn;1; (b) applying magnetic gradient pulses, so as to select a slice of the object to be imaged arid to create an image; and (c) acquiring a radiofrequency signal resulting from the object, so as to generate a magnetic resonance slice image of the object. The method provides slice selective multiple quantum magnetic resonance images of yet unprecedented quality in terms of contrast. The method is particularly useful for imaging connective tissues.

Method of magnetic resonance imaging

A method for depicting the anatomy and quantitative tissue strain of a biological tissue. A spatially resolved, double quantum filtered, nuclear magnetic resonance frequency spectrum is acquired from either .sup.1 H or .sup.2 H nuclei in the tissue. Values in the time domain or frequency domain representations of the free induction decay signal are mapped in 2 spatial dimensions so as to selectively depict histological layers of the tissue anatomy. The residual quadrupolar or dipolar splitting is calculated from the free induction decay signal, and then correlated with a tissue strain value by utilizing a known formula describing the correlation between residual quadrupolar or dipolar splitting and tissue strain. The tissue strain value is then mapped in two spatial dimensions.
