Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive, from a base station, a configuration indicating a set of encoding parameters corresponding to a constellation shaping encoding process. The UE may calculate a number of bits of a first subset of a source bit stream, and the first subset of the source bit stream may include or encompass an input to a distribution matcher. The UE may apply, to the first subset, a distribution matcher parameter based on the set of encoding parameters. The UE may calculate a number of bits of a second subset of the source bit stream, and the second subset of the source bit stream may be concatenated with an output bit stream of the distribution matcher as an input to a channel encoder. The UE may signal the source bit stream to the base station.

In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may transmit, to another UE, a set of encoded packets associated with a vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communication, wherein the set of encoded packets are generated according to a network coding scheme, transmit, to a relay device, the set of encoded packets associated with the V2X communication, and receive, from the relay device, an acknowledgment message based at least in part on transmitting, to the relay device, the set of encoded packets associated with the V2X communication. In one aspect of the disclosure, a method of wireless communication performed by a receiving device includes receiving, from a transmitting device, a plurality of encoded packets each including at least one respective physical (PHY) layer symbol. The method includes decoding the plurality of encoded packets based on a raptor code to generate received data. The method also includes determining a signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) associated with receiving the plurality of encoded packets, receiving an indication from the transmitting device, or determining a channel quality indicator (CQI) or a modulation and coding scheme (MCS) associated with receiving the plurality of encoded packets. The method further includes adaptively determining a PHY packet error rate associated with the plurality of encoded packets based on the SINR, the indication, the CQI, or the MCS. Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some systems, a device may select antenna elements from a planar array to transmit or receive an orbital angular momentum (OAM) beam. The device may determine a first area (e.g., a first ring area) based on an angular direction over which the device can communicate an OAM beam with a second device and may determine a second area (e.g., a second ring area) on the planar array based on projecting the first area on the planar array. The device may select a set of antenna elements from the planar array that are located within the second area. The device may determine a complex-valued weight for each antenna element of the selected set of antenna elements and may transmit or receive an OAM beam to or from the second device via the set of antenna elements according to the angular direction.

Aspects of the disclosure relate to wireless communication utilizing a modulation and coding scheme that selectively or dynamically applies probabilistically-shaped coding (PCS) to modulate a transmitted waveform. A method of wireless communication by abase station inputs anonymized sensor feature data, received from a user equipment (UE), into a network machine learning model. The base station also inputs handover decision information into the network machine learning model. The method further includes inferring a handover decision based on the handover decision information and the anonymized sensor feature data, and transmitting the handover decision to the UE.

The method receives a mapping between gradient Sum-Power levels and scaling factors for channel inversion coefficients to process a data block into an unencoded uplink signal. The method also determines a channel inversion coefficient based on a scaling factor obtained from the mapping and the calculated gradient Sum-Power level. The method applies analog modulation and the channel inversion coefficient to the data block to form the unencoded uplink signal. The method further transmits, to a network, the unencoded uplink signal on shared uplink resources for an over-the-air computation of global gradients for the federated learning task.

The UE receives from the network an indication of a maximum rank of an uplink from an interfering, aggressor UE. The UE measures interference of a signal from the aggressor UE, and based on the measurement, determines one or more rank values for the aggressor UE, less than or equal to the maximum rank. The UE may further determine one or more channel parameters for downlink transmissions the UE receives, corresponding to the determined rank values. The UE then transmits a channel state information (CSI) report that includes an indication of at least one of the one or more rank values for the aggressor UE. Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. Generally, the described techniques provide for sending, from an upper layer at a transmitting device to a lower layer at the transmitting device, an indication by which the lower layer determines that a packet is to be transmitted as either an initial transmission or as a retransmission. The lower layer at the transmitting device may then determine a transmission process for transmitting the packet based on the indication, and the transmitting device may transmit the packet in accordance with the transmission process. Because the lower layer may identify whether the packet is to be transmitted as either the initial transmission or the retransmission, the lower layer may adapt the transmission process to improve the chances that the packet is received by a receiving device or to limit overhead.
