A tuned mass tool holder having an axis of rotation has a mass that can be varied. The distribution of the tool holder mass can be adjusted along the axis of rotation, the center of gravity of the tool holder can be moved along the axis of rotation, and the moment of inertia of the tool holder can be changed relative to the holder-spindle interface.

A protein rehydration/recovery beverage composition is provided, including an aqueous component such as water, hydrolyzed protein, and sodium acid sulfate and at least one other edible acid. The hydrolyzed protein may be hydrolyzed whey and optionally hydrolyzed collagen. In addition, the beverage composition may include at least one carbohydrate, such as sucrose, and one or more non-nutritive sweeteners. A protein rehydration/recovery beverage composition is provided, including an aqueous component, hydrolyzed proteins and an acid blend. The acid blend contains a first acid component including at least one of phosphoric acid and citric acid, and a second acid component including at least one of tartaric acid, fumaric acid, malic acid, gluconic acid, ascorbic acid, and lactic acid. Also, a method for making a protein recovery beverage composition that has a pH of less than about 4.2. The rehydration/recovery beverage is stable and clean tasting, and has a low viscosity.

The feed rate of an ultrasonic knife used to cut composite material is optimized using adaptive control. One or more parameters such as ultrasonic power or side load on the knife is sensed and used to generate feedback control signals. The feedback control signals are used to optimize the commanded feedrate of the knife.

An apparatus, machine tool, and method for adaptively controlling a feedrate of a machine tool are provided in which a plurality of maximum spindle power and/or radial load values, each corresponding to a spindle rotational speed, are received, stored and applied. Additionally, the current spindle power and/or the current radial load, along with the current spindle rotational speed may be received. The current spindle power and/or the current radial load may be compared to the maximum spindle power and/or radial load corresponding to the current spindle rotational speed, such that the feedrate may be reduced if the current spindle power and/or the current radial load exceed the corresponding maximum spindle power and/or radial load for the current spindle rotational speed or increased if the current spindle power and the current radial load are below the corresponding maximum spindle power and/or radial load for the current spindle rotational speed.
