A composition for use as a multifunctional wax dispersant can treat subterranean formations for the recovery of oil and gas from oil and gas wells. A process can be used for the preparation thereof. A method for treating a crude oil with a wax dispersant composition according to the present invention reduces interfacial tension between the crude oil and the treatment fluids in the recovery of oil and gas from crude oil and gas wells.

Multifunctional wax dispersant for subterranean chemical applications

Compositions and methods of using of such compositions to, for example, inhibit shale are provided. In one embodiment, the methods include introducing an additive including a cationic clay stabilizer and an anionic clay stabilizer into a treatment fluid; and introducing the treatment fluid into a wellbore penetrating at least a portion of a subterranean formation. In some embodiments, the methods include introducing an additive including a cationic shale inhibitor and an anionic shale inhibitor into a treatment fluid; and introducing the treatment fluid into a wellbore penetrating at least a portion of a subterranean formation.

Methods and systems for treating mined sand to remove an impurity in accordance with the disclosure. An example method mined sand provides mined sand containing the impurity, contacting the mined sand with an aqueous treatment fluid comprising an ethoxylated alcohol and a sulfonic acid derivative, and drying the mined sand; wherein at least a portion of the impurity is removed from the dried mined sand after contact of the mined sand with the aqueous treatment fluid.

Compositions and methods for use in fracturing treatments using friction reducing additives that include nanoparticles are provided. In some embodiments, the methods include: providing a treatment fluid that includes an aqueous base fluid and a friction reducing additive, the friction reducing additive including at least one polymer and a plurality of nanoparticles; and introducing the treatment fluid into a portion of a subterranean formation at or above a pressure sufficient to create or enhance at least one fracture in the subterranean formation.

Friction reducing additives including nanoparticles

A fracturing fluid can include: a base fluid, wherein the base fluid comprises water; proppant; a friction reducer; and a friction reducer enhancer, wherein the friction reducer enhancer is a surfactant. The friction reducer enhancer can be in a concentration greater than or equal to a critical micelle concentration. Methods of fracturing a subterranean formation can include introducing the fracturing fluid into the subterranean formation. The friction reducer enhancer can increase the hydration rate of the friction reducer, whereby friction reduction of the fracturing fluid can occur much faster than without the friction reducer enhancer.

Enhanced friction reducers for water-based fracturing fluids

A slickwater fracturing fluid that includes a brine with dissolved solids, an anionic friction reducing additive, a polysaccharide, and a nanomaterial that includes nanoparticles with an average particle size between about 1 nm and about 500 nm. The polysaccharide and the anionic friction reducing additive synergistically reduce friction of the slickwater fracturing fluid so as to increase an injection rate of the slickwater fracturing fluid. Also, the polysaccharide, the anionic friction reducing additive, and the nanomaterial synergistically provide viscosity to the slickwater fracturing fluid so as to increase proppant transport capability. Also described is a method of fracturing a subterranean formation by pumping the slickwater fracturing fluid into a borehole and fracturing the subterranean formation with the slickwater fracturing fluid.

Synergistic enhancement of slickwater fracturing fluids

A method of servicing a wellbore penetrating at least a portion of a subterranean formation, including placing into the wellbore a wellbore servicing fluid including a friction reducer, an iron control agent, and an aqueous fluid. The iron control agent can include a compound according to Structure I, a salt of Structure I, or combinations thereof: wherein R, R, R, R, Rand Rare defined as set forth in the specification. The methods in this disclosure can be used for iron mitigation.

Methods of making and using a wellbore servicing fluid for iron mitigation

A method of preparing a fracturing fluid comprising: preparing or providing an aqueous fluid containing iron ions; screening a plurality of friction reducers against the aqueous fluid wherein the plurality of friction reducers are anionic, cationic, nonionic, amphoteric, or combinations thereof; selecting at least one friction reducer from the plurality of friction reducers based at least in part on the step of screening; and preparing a fracturing fluid including the at least one friction reducer.

A method may include: preparing or providing an aqueous fluid containing iron ions; screening at least one iron control agent against the aqueous fluid; selecting at least one iron control agent and iron control agent concentration based at least in part on the step of screening; and preparing a fracturing fluid comprising an aqueous base fluid and the at least one iron control agent wherein a concentration of the iron control agent in the fracturing fluid is greater than or equal to the selected iron control agent concentration.

Mitigation of friction reducer precipitation

Methods and compositions for treating subterranean formations with treatment fluids comprising alkyl polyglycoside surfactants are provided. In one embodiment, the methods comprise providing a treatment fluid comprising an aqueous base fluid; and a surfactant comprising an alkyl polyglycoside or derivative thereof; introducing the treatment fluid into a wellbore penetrating at least a portion of a subterranean formation; and producing fluids from the wellbore during or subsequent to introducing the treatment fluid into the wellbore.

Alkyl polyglycoside surfactants for use in subterranean formations

Included are methods and systems for enhancing recovery of a hydrocarbon fluid. An example method includes selecting a liquefied natural gas capable of being processed into a modified liquefied natural gas having a desired composition and adjusting the composition of the liquefied natural gas to provide the modified liquefied natural gas with the desired composition. The method further includes preparing a treatment fluid from the modified liquefied natural gas, introducing the treatment fluid into a wellbore, and contacting the hydrocarbon fluid with the treatment fluid in the wellbore.

Use of liquid natural gas for well treatment operations

Methods and compositions for treating aqueous fluids that may be included in treatment fluids that are used for treating a subterranean formation. In some embodiments, the methods include: providing a water-based friction reducing additive that includes an aqueous base fluid, a salt, a first friction reducing polymer, and a suspension agent; introducing the water-based friction reducing additive into a treatment fluid; and introducing the treatment fluid into a wellbore penetrating at least a portion of a subterranean formation at a pressure sufficient to create or enhance one or more fractures within the subterranean formation.

Water-based friction reducing additives

Friction reducers can be used in fluids for oil and gas operations. Friction reducers can be water-hydratable and can decrease the friction within wellbore components after fully hydrating. The friction reducer can be pre-hydrated at the well site. The friction reducer and water can be combined into a static mixer of a pre-hydration apparatus that forms a mixed fluid. The friction reducer can be retained in the pre-hydration apparatus for a sufficient period of time to allow the friction reducer to hydrate. The mixed fluid containing the pre-hydrated friction reducer can then be added to a base fluid to form a treatment fluid. The treatment fluid can be a fracturing fluid. The pre-hydrated friction reducer can provide an immediate reduction in friction to the treatment fluid as the treatment fluid is being pumped into the wellbore.
