Fiberoptic connector and adapter assembly includes a fiberoptic connector received within an adapter. The connector has a cover on the connector housing. The cover pivots between open and closed positions to expose or cover, respectively, a optical fiber contained within the connector. Longitudinal guides of the connector are received cooperating with longitudinal guides of the adapter to direct the connector into the adapter in a prescribed alignment. A cam pin is carried on the adapter to engage a cam pin receiving slot on the cover to urge the cover to the open position as the connector is inserted into the adapter.

In a particular embodiment, a process device includes a fluid disruption generation element to generate a fluid disruption within process fluid flowing through a pipe associated with an industrial process and a process variable sensor coupled to the disruption generation element to measure a process parameter. The process device further includes a power generation element adapted to generate an electrical output signal in response to the fluid disruption and a power storage component coupled to the power generation element. The power storage component is adapted to accumulate a charge based on the electrical output signal.

A resonance frequency vibration power harvester includes an elongate body, a first vibration energy harvester device and a weight. The elongate body includes a first end, a second end and an interior channel extending through at least a portion of the elongate body between the first end and the second end. The second end of the elongate body is for connecting to a vibration source such that the first end is cantilevered. The first vibration energy harvester device is attached adjacent the first end of the elongate body, and the weight is joined to the interior channel to adjust a resonant frequency of the elongate body.

A fiber optic connector has two ferrules contained within a single connector housing with the ferrules positioned in parallel, spaced-apart alignment. The connector includes a first mating fastener exposed on exterior sides of the connector housing. A fiber optic adapter has an open end to slidably receive the connector housing. The adapter includes two parallel sleeves contained within the adapter housing and aligned with the ferrules of the connector. The adapter includes a second mating fastener exposed to an interior of the adapter housing to releasably mate with the first mating fastener when the connector housing is in the full insert position.

A pressure sensor includes a structure that deforms in response to an applied pressure. A light source is directed at the structure. This provides a reflection from the structure. A sensor is arranged to sense the reflection and provide an output related to the applied pressure.

The present invention relates to a device for use in a fiber optic system that may be a communication system, a sensing system or other system using guided-wave optical components. Reducing the number of lenses required to couple the waveguides and the free-space paths in the device offers the dual advantages of a reduced component count and simplified alignment. In an exemplary device having a first and second waveguides, a birefringent optical system defines bi-directional, polarization-dependent free-space paths. One of the bidirectional, polarization-dependent, free-space paths couples at least the first waveguide to the second waveguide. The birefringent optical system includes at least one prism for bending one of the polarization-dependent paths in a clockwise direction and one of the polarization-dependent paths in a counterclockwise direction.
