The disclosed system may include a support structure having a top portion and a first bottom portion. The system may also include at least one wireless communication device positioned on the top portion of the support structure. The system may further include at least one antenna positioned in the first bottom portion of the support structure. The antenna in the first bottom portion of the support structure may be electrically connected to the wireless communication device positioned on the top portion of the support structure. Antenna for wearable electronic devices

A system comprising (1) a tuner configured to tune a radio and (2) a controller communicatively coupled to the tuner, wherein the controller is configured to (1) select a tuner code to apply to the tuner based at least in part on telemetry data indicative of a certain use-case scenario and (2) cause the tuner to tune the radio by applying the tuner code to achieve a certain state of the radio. Apparatus, system, and method for calibrating impedance measurements for closed-loop tuning of wireless devices

An antenna system comprising (1) an array of antennas capable of beamforming and (2) at least one controller communicatively to the array of antennas, wherein the controller (A) collects a first set of measurements taken at each of the antennas as the antennas are activated individually, (B) collects a second set of measurements taken at each of the antennas as pairs of the antennas are activated together, (C) determines one or more inefficiencies in the beamforming of the antennas based at least in part on the first and second sets of measurements, and (D) calibrates the antennas to improve the beamforming by modifying one or more phase shifters of the antennas to compensate for the inefficiencies in the beamforming Various other apparatuses, systems, and methods are also disclosed.

Apparatus, system, and method for calibrating beamforming antennas to achieve optimized coverage

A radio frequency device has a multifunctional tuner that stores measurements of reflection coefficient parameter in a register. The radio frequency device also has a transceiver that has a transmitter. The transceiver may detect a transmitter signal from the transmitter to an antenna in an initial tuning state and then determine whether the transmitter signal is stable. In response to the transmitter signal being stable, the transceiver may measuring the reflection coefficient parameters at the multifunctional tuner. Furthermore, the radio frequency device has a baseband controller that has a memory to store instructions and a processor to execute the instructions. The instructions cause the processor to determine an antenna impedance based on the reflection coefficient parameters, and in response to determining that the antenna impedance is greater than or less than a threshold antenna impedance, iteratively tune the antenna using the multifunctional tuner.

Adaptive antenna tuning system

The disclosed system may include an antenna and an antenna matching network. The antenna matching network may include an aperture tuner configured to shift a frequency response of the antenna and an impedance tuner configured to dynamically change an amount of radiated power for the antenna. The antenna matching network may be positioned at least a specified minimum distance from the antenna according to various operating characteristics of the antenna. Various other apparatuses, wearable electronic devices, and methods of manufacturing are also disclosed.

Low band antenna architecture with aperture and impedance tuning

The disclosed system may include a frame, a printed circuit board (PCB) mounted to the frame, and at least one antenna electrically connected to the PCB via an antenna feed. The antenna may be shorter than a maximum specified length, and the antenna may be intended to operate within a specified frequency range for which the antenna's length is insufficiently long. Still further, in this system, electrical current flowing to the antenna may be routed to at least a portion of the frame to create a parasitic arm. As such, the parasitic arm may radiate in conjunction with the antenna, providing constructive interference in the specified frequency range. Various other mobile electronic devices, apparatuses, and methods of manufacturing are also disclosed.

The disclosed system may include an antenna feed that has various electronic components. The system may also include a lens that has one or more layers, and an antenna embedded on at least a portion of the layers of the lens. The antenna may be electrically connected to at least one of the electronic components of the antenna feed. Various other apparatuses, wearable electronic devices, and methods of manufacturing are also disclosed.

Antennas for artificial reality systems

An electronic device may have peripheral conductive housing structures, a display frame, a support plate, a logic board, and an antenna. The antenna may have a resonating element that includes a first slot between the logic board and a segment of the peripheral conductive housing structures, a second slot between the display frame and the segment, and optionally a third slot between the support plate and the segment. The slots may be at least partially overlapping, may have respective lengths, may be located at respective distances from a cover layer for the display, and may collectively receive radio-frequency signals in a frequency band such as the L5 GPS band. Switching circuitry and filter circuitry may be coupled to the antenna feed and/or to the antenna feed (s) of one or more adjacent antennas in the electronic device to help to isolate the antennas from each other.

Electronic devices with distributed slot antenna structures

An electronic device may include control circuitry, sensors, and wireless circuitry having antennas. The sensors may generate sensor data that is used by the control circuitry to identify an operating environment for the device. The sensor data may include a grip map generated by a touch-sensitive display, infrared facial recognition image signals or other image signals, an angle of arrival of sound received by a set of microphones, impedance data from an impedance sensor, and any other desired sensor data. The control circuitry may use the sensor data, radio-frequency spatial ranging data, information about whether audio is being played over an ear speaker, and/or information about communications protocols in use to identify the operating environment. The control circuitry may adjust antenna settings for the wireless circuitry based on the identified operating environment to ensure that the antennas operate with satisfactory antenna efficiency regardless of operating conditions.

Electronic device having adjustable antenna settings

An electronic device may be provided with wireless circuitry and a housing with upper and lower ends. The lower end may include first and second open slot antennas that are directly fed by respective feeds and that radiate in a cellular ultra-high band. The lower end may also include first and second inverted-F antennas. The upper end may include third and fourth inverted-F antennas. The first inverted-F antenna may have a first feed that conveys currents below 2700 MHz and a second feed that conveys antenna currents in the cellular ultra-high band, a wireless local area network band, and/or ultra-wideband frequency bands. If desired, the upper end may include a third open slot antenna that is directly fed by a corresponding antenna feed and that radiates in the cellular ultra-high band and/or in the ultra-wideband frequency bands.

Wireless devices having antennas for covering multiple frequency bands

A device with near-field communications (NFC) capabilities is provided. A housing may include first and second segments and a support plate separated from the segments by a slot. A first inductor may be coupled between the first segment and the plate. A second inductor may be coupled between the second segment and the plate. A transceiver may have a first signal terminal coupled to the first segment over a first path and a second signal terminal coupled to the second segment over a second path. The transceiver may convey differential signals in an NFC band over a loop path for an NFC antenna that includes the first conductive path, the first segment, the first inductor, a portion of the plate between the first and second inductors, the second inductor, the second segment, and the second conductive path. This may optimize wireless performance and volume for the NFC antenna.

Electronic devices having differential-fed near-field communications antennas

An electronic device may be provided with wireless circuitry. The wireless circuitry may include one or more antennas. The electronic device may have a housing in which control circuitry and radio-frequency transceiver circuitry is mounted. The transceiver circuitry may be used to transmit and receive radio-frequency signals using the antennas. The electronic device may have radio-frequency sensors. The radio-frequency sensors may include current sensors, voltage sensors, power sensors, sensors with taps and switching circuitry that tap signals flowing in a signal path and that may make measurements such as impedance measurements, and radio-frequency sensors with sensor antennas and associated sensor circuits that measure radio-frequency signals received using the sensor antennas. The control circuitry may make wireless circuit adjustments based on measured radio-frequency signals.

Wireless electronic device with radio-frequency sensors

An electronic device may include wireless circuitry with antennas. An antenna resonating element arm for an antenna may be formed from conductive housing structures running along the edges of the device. The antenna may have first and second antenna feeds and multiple adjustable components that bridge a slot between the antenna resonating element and an antenna ground. Control circuitry may control the adjustable components and selectively activate one of the first and second feeds at a given time to place the antenna in first, second, or third operating modes. The control circuitry may determine which operating mode to use based on information indicative of the operating environment of the device. By switching between the operating modes, the control circuitry may shift current hot spots across the length of the resonating element arm to ensure satisfactory performance of the antenna in a variety of operating conditions.
