A fluid sensor device can include a housing having an inlet and an outlet. The housing can have a fluid reservoir, a sensing assembly, a plunger, a valve, and a plurality of channels. The fluid sensor module can be used to sense constituents in a sample fluid (e.g. patient's blood or dialysate) during a treatment process, such as kidney dialysis procedures. The fluid sensor module can be connected in-line to a medical device to sense the sample fluid.

Accurately measuring bio-impedance is important for sensing properties of the body. Unfortunately, contact impedances can significantly degrade the accuracy of bio-impedance measurements. To address this issue, circuitry for implementing a four-wire impedance measurement can be configured to make multiple current measurements. The multiple current measurements set up a system of equations to allow the unknown bio-impedance and contact impedances to be derived. The result is an accurate bio-impedance measurement that is not negatively impacted by large contact impedances. Moreover, bad contacts with undesirably large impedances can be identified.

Various examples are directed to a measurement system for measuring an electrical property of skin comprising an excitation circuit, a receiver circuit, and a sequencer circuit. The excitation circuit may generate a periodic excitation signal that, when provided to the skin, generates a response signal in the skin indicative of the electrical property. The sequencer circuit may be configured to activate the excitation circuit to provide the excitation signal to the skin. While the excitation circuit is activated to provide the excitation signal to the skin, the sequencer circuit may activate the receiver circuit to execute a first sample cycle to generate a first plurality of samples of the response signal. A first value for the electrical property of the skin may be determined based at least in part on the first plurality of samples of the response signal.

Subject matter herein can include identifying a biochemical test strip assembly electrically, such as using the same test circuitry as can be used to perform an electrochemical measurement, without requiring use of optical techniques. The identification can include using information about a measured susceptance of an identification feature included as a portion of the test strip assembly. The identification can be used by test circuitry to select test parameters or calibration values, or to select an appropriate test protocol for the type of test strip coupled to the test circuitry. The identification can be used by the test circuitry to validate or reject a test strip assembly, such as to inhibit use of test strips that fail meet one or more specified criteria.

Susceptance measurement for identifying biochemical sensors

A low-cost system comprising a pattern arranged to encode information and a decoder for decoding the information encoded in the pattern is described. In particular, the mechanism employs a capacitive sensing technique. Electrodes are arranged (or stimulated, during operation) to each generate an electric field, and sense disturbances on the electric field caused by the pattern when the pattern is positioned over the electrodes. The spatial arrangement of the pattern allows information to be encoded on a strip or surface and decoded by capacitive sensors arranged to detect disturbances caused by possible patterns. The resulting solution is cheaper and less complex than optical solutions, e.g., barcodes and optical barcode readers. The mechanism may be used in a glucose meter for encoding and decoding an identifier for distinguishing batches of glucose meter test strips.
