A method and apparatus for gray level dynamic switching. The method is applied to driving a display with at least one pixel. In the method of the present invention, a gray level sequence Sis provided. Ssequentially represents two or more desired gray levels G(1), . . . , G(T) of the pixel at consecutive time frames 1, . . . , T and comprises a current gray level G(t) and a previous gray level G(t&#x2212;1) corresponding to time frames t and t&#x2212;1, respectively. Then, the pixel is driven with an optimized driving force V(t) to change the pixel forward to a state corresponding to G(t) according to G(t) and G(t&#x2212;1). In the present invention, the optimized driving voltage V(t) is determined by equations of V(t)=V(t&#x2212;1)+ODV and V(t)=a&#xd7;G(m)+b&#xd7;G(m)+c&#xd7;G(m)+d, wherein the voltage ODV is a minimum voltage capable of obtaining one gray level transition in a determined response time.

Method and apparatus for dynamic gray level switching

A method for controlling gap widths of a cell gap of an LCD panel and a relevant apparatus are provided. When a front substrate and a rear substrate of an LCD panel are being pressed to combine together before a sealant between hardens, gap widths at several measured points located on the front or rear substrate are monitored to provide a reference for modifying a parameter distribution, thereby fine-tuning the gap widths. Therefore, gap widths, equivalent to the uniformity of the cell gap, can meet the manufacturer's requirement, and LCD panel yields are increased.
