A projection brightness adjustment method includes a power source driving a projector to project an image, a temperature sensor detecting a working temperature of the projector, the projector calculating a pixel average amount corresponding to each pixel brightness level of the image by dividing a total pixel amount of the image by a total brightness level amount of the image, and the projector controlling the power source to output an overload current to the projector for image projection when determining the working temperature is less than an upper operating-temperature limit and determining a level amount of at least one pixel brightness level having a pixel amount larger than the pixel average amount is less than or equal to half of the total brightness level amount. The magnitude of the overload current is between a maximum current limit and the upper operating-current limit.

Projection brightness adjustment method for controlling current output of power source and projector thereof

A dynamic brightness adjusting method is used for adjusting output brightness of an image projected by a projector. The method controls a lighting component of the projector to emit light in an adjustable lighting power, and controls a light limiting device disposed in front of the lighting component to allow the light to pass through in an adjustable light-passing rate. In an embodiment, the method adjusts the lighting power and the light-passing rate at the same time. In another embodiment, according to a brightness range in which a nominal maximum brightness value relative to an input image is located, the method fixes the lighting power and adjusts the light-passing rate according to the fixed lighting power and the nominal maximum brightness value, or fixes the light-passing rate and adjusts the lighting power according to the fixed light-passing rate and the nominal maximum brightness value.

Dynamic brightness adjusting method and projector

A projector has a light source, a phosphor wheel, a digital mirror device (DMD) and a control unit. The phosphor wheel has a plurality of color sections. The light source projects a light source beam with a specific intensity onto a specific color section of the phosphor wheel when the DMD is operated at a specific duty cycle. By adjusting at least one of the specific duty cycle and the specific intensity, the control unit can adjust real brightness to approach specific target brightness of the specific color section so as to optimize white balance of the projector.
