A system for displaying images includes a liquid crystal display panel. The liquid crystal display panel comprises a color filter substrate having a light shielding layer on a peripheral area and a common electrode on a display area and the peripheral area, and an array substrate having a pixel electrode on the display area and a separate and independent electrode with a fixed voltage on the peripheral area. The liquid crystal display panel further comprises a liquid crystal layer between the color filter substrate and the array substrate.

System for displaying images including a liquid crystal display panel

Systems for displaying images are provided. A representative system comprises a wide viewing angle liquid crystal display with multi-film compensation. A liquid crystal display comprising a first substrate, a second substrate, and a liquid crystal layer sandwiched between the first substrate and the second substrate. A first compensation film is interposed between the first polarizer and the first substrate. A second compensation film interposed between the second polarizer and the second substrate. The first compensation film and the second compensation film comprise different birefringence polarities.

Liquid crystal displays

A liquid crystal display device and an electronic device, which provide compensation for the difference of brightness caused by the LC effect to improve the image color fidelity is provided. The present invention provides a source driving method for a LCD device including providing data signals representing images to be displayed at a plurality of sub-pixels corresponding to different display wavelengths within a pixel and sequentially activating the sub-pixels within the pixel, in the order from a sub-pixel corresponding to the shortest display wavelength to a sub-pixel corresponding to longest display wavelength.

Method for displaying an image

A transflective liquid crystal display device having one or more substrates is provided. A light emitting device is disposed at an edge of one of the substrates, such as the lower substrate. An insulating layer is disposed on the lower substrate and is formed with a plurality of notches. Each notch has a first angled sidewall and a second angled sidewall. The second angled sidewall has an included angle from horizontal. A first reflective layer may also be provided on top of the insulating layer and extend onto the second angled sidewall. The first reflective layer on the second angled sidewall faces the light emitting device and may assist in reflecting light from the light emitting device.

Transflective liquid crystal display device and fabrication method thereof

A transflective liquid crystal display comprising an active device array substrate, a facing substrate, a liquid crystal layer and a reflector. The liquid crystal molecules in the transparent area are driven by a potential between the transparent pixel electrode and the common electrode. The liquid crystal molecules in the reflective area are driven by a potential between the transparent pixel electrode and the active device array substrate or the auxiliary electrode on the facing substrate. Under the condition of a single cell gap, the electric field applied to the transparent area and the reflective area can control the change in effective phase so as to optimize the performance.

Transflective liquid crystal display

An array substrate for a transflective liquid crystal display device is disclosed. The array substrate includes a substrate; a plurality of scanning lines and data lines on the substrate, crossing each other to define a plurality of pixel regions; a transmissive electrode disposed in the transmission region; and a reflector disposed in the reflection region and not subjected to a voltage. A lateral field is generated in the reflection region. The transflective LCD of the present invention achieves the maximum light efficiency in both reflection and transmission modes.

A transflective liquid crystal display has a plurality of pixel electrode layers corresponding to a plurality of color elements. A first pixel electrode layer has a first reflective region and a first transmissive region. A second pixel electrode layer has a second reflective region and a second transmissive region. A third pixel electrode layer has a third reflective region and a third transmissive region. The first reflective region is larger than the second reflective region, and the first reflective region is larger than the third reflective region.

A dual-display module has a first display, a second display opposing the first display, and a backlight module disposed between the first display and the second display. The backlight module has at least one tunable mirror sheet, whereby one side display can be on a mirror-like state at the same time when the other side display is in an active operation state.

A transflective display device has an upper substrate, a lower substrate and a liquid crystal layer interposed therebetween. A reflective electrode layer is formed overlying the inner surface of the lower substrate to serve as a reflective area of a pixel electrode. A transparent electrode layer is formed overlying the inner surface of the lower substrate, in which the transparent electrode layer not covered by the reflective electrode layer serves as a transmissive area of a pixel electrode. A first polarizer is formed overlying the outer surface of the upper substrate. A second polarizer is formed overlying the outer surface of the lower substrate. An optical compensation plate is formed between the second polarizer and the lower substrate.

Transflective display device

A double-sided LCD panel is comprised of a transflective LCD panel and a light-emitting device. One surface of the transflective panel is used in the transparent mode, and the other surface is used in the reflective mode, achieving the goal of double-sided display. The light-emitting device may function as the front light source of the display surface in the reflective mode and the backlit source of the display surface in the transparent mode. In this manner, one can use a single panel for double screen display. This can simultaneously satisfy the requirements of light-weighted products and lowering the manufacturing cost.

Double-sided LCD panel

A dual-display liquid crystal display structure having first and second display regions. A first substrate and a second substrate opposite the first substrate are provided. A pixel electrode pattern is formed on the first substrate. A reflective layer is formed on an interior or exterior side of the second substrate in the second display region. A filter is formed on the second substrate and the reflective layer. A common electrode is formed on the filter. A liquid crystal layer is disposed between the first substrate and the second substrate. A light device is disposed on an exterior side of the first substrate.

Dual-display liquid crystal display

An arrangement of color elements for a color filter. Each of color element groups comprises a first color element, a second color element, a third color element and a fourth color element arranged in sequence. The first color element, the second color element, and the third color element comprising three colors. The second color element and the fourth color element are identical in color and width. An active width W of the first color element and an active width W of the second color element satisfy the formula: W &equals;A&times;W , A&equals;1.7&tilde;2.3. An active width W of the third color element and the active width W of the second color element satisfy the formula; W &equals;B&times;W , B&equals;1.7&tilde;2.3.
