A computer enclosure includes a cage (), a bezel (), and two pivot devices (). The cage has a front panel () defining two holes (). Each pivot device () is fixed to the bezel, and includes a cylinder (), a spring () and a pivot (). The cylinder receives the spring therein. Two L-shaped apertures () are defined in opposite sides of the cylinder. Each pivot includes a central pin (), and a circumferential wall () surrounding most of the pin. Two resilient L-shaped hooks () are formed at opposite sides of the circumferential wall. The spring is compressed between a top end of the cylinder and the circumferential wall. When the hooks are slid from horizontal portions () of the apertures to vertical portions () of the apertures, the spring pushes the pivot downwardly, and the pin is pivotably engaged in a corresponding hole of the front panel.

Computer enclosure incorporating bezel pivoting mechanism

A mounting bracket () for holding a disk drive () includes a bottom wall (), a first sidewall () extending upwardly from one side of the bottom wall with two locating pins () protruding inwardly therefrom corresponding to two fixing holes defined in a sidewall of the disk drive, a second sidewall extending upwardly from an opposite side of said bottom wall for sandwiching the disk drive with the first sidewall, and locking means for engaging with a second sidewall of the disk drive to retain the disk drive in the mounting bracket. In assembly, the disk drive is placed in the mounting bracket, and the locating pines are inserted into the fixing holes of the disk drive. With the other sidewall of the disk drive secured to the fixing structures of the mounting bracket, the disk drive is secured in the mounting bracket.

Mounting bracket for disk drive

A computer component mounting system includes two mounting frames () attached to two side panels () of a chassis () respectively, and a mounting bracket () having a main portion () for attaching computer components () such as fans () thereto, and two mounting portions () at opposite ends of the main portion. Each mounting frame includes a base plate () forming a positioning plate (), and two side plates () each forming an oblique guide plate (). A locking slot () is defined in each side plate and adjoining guide plate. Each mounting portion includes two locking tabs () engaging in the locking slots of a corresponding mounting frame, and a positioning tab () joined to the positioning plate of the corresponding mounting frame to thereby secure the mounting bracket to the mounting frames. The fans are thus secured within the chassis.

Computer component mounting system

A computer enclosure includes: a bottom casing (); a top casing () defining an opening () and detachably attached to the bottom casing; and an engaging device () including an upper unit () mounted below the opening of the top casing, and a lower unit () mounted to the bottom casing. The upper unit includes a bracket (), and first and second levers () pivotably mounted in the bracket. The first lever has first and second ends (). The lower unit of the engaging device includes parallel driving plates () defining generally U-shaped cutouts (). When the first end of the first lever is rotated downwardly or upwardly, the second end of the first lever slidingly drives against the driving plates at rear or front extremities respectively of the U-shaped cutouts, thereby respectively attaching or detaching the top casing to or from the bottom casing.

The engaging portions engage in the slots to position the bezel in X axis directions. The catches engage in the cutouts to position the bezel in Z axis directions. The abutting portions sandwich the front plate with the body to position the bezel in Y axis directions. The bezel is thus securely attached to the enclosure.

A latch ( ) for removing a cover from a base includes an operable member ( ) fixed to the cover, and a stationary member ( ) fixed to the base. The operable member includes a frame ( ), and a handle ( ) pivotably mounted therein. The handle includes a tongue ( ) extending therefrom, and a pair of cams ( ). The stationary member includes a pedestal ( ), and a plate ( ) fixed on the pedestal. The plate has a projection ( ) formed thereon. The cover is removed from the base by rotating the handle. This causes the tongue to press the resilient plate and thus release the projection, and the cams of the handle to abut against the pedestal to urge the operable member to slide relative to the stationary member.

A data storage device mounting apparatus includes a retaining bracket ( ) fixedly mounted to a computer chassis ( ), two slide rails ( ) attached to opposite sides of a data storage device ( ), and a resilient operation body ( ). The retaining bracket includes two opposite side plates ( ) each defining a long slot ( ). Each slide rail includes protrusions ( ) slidably engaging in a corresponding slot. One side plate includes a detent tab ( ). One slide rail includes a blocking tab ( ). The operation body is fixed to one side plate, and includes an inward projection ( ). When the data storage device is slid into the retaining bracket, the projection snappingly engages with the blocking tab, to prevent accidental withdrawal of the data storage device from the retaining bracket. The detent tab abuts an end of the data storage device, to prevent the data storage device from moving further inwardly.

Mounting apparatus for data storage device

A fan holder ( ), for mounting a fan ( ) having an electrical connector ( ) to a computer chassis ( ), includes a base ( ) for mounting to a body ( ) of the fan, a pair of arms ( ) extending from opposite sides of the base for embracing the body of the fan, and a socket ( ) integrally formed on one of the opposite sides of the base. Each of the arms forms a protrusion ( ) for being slidingly received in a slot ( ) of a corresponding latch ( ) of the computer chassis. The socket defines a groove ( ) for receiving a locating plate ( ) of the connector thereby combining the connector to the fan holder. When the combined fan and fan holder is detached from the computer chassis, the connector is simultaneously drawn out from a corresponding receptacle ( ) of the computer chassis.

A panel mounting apparatus includes a chassis ( ) and a panel ( ). The chassis includes a front wall ( ) defining two symmetrical arcuate slots ( ). Two cutouts ( ) are defined in the front wall at ends of the slots respectively. Two through holes ( ) are defined in the front wall adjacent the slots respectively. The panel includes two posts ( ) and two pins ( ), respectively corresponding to the slots and the through holes of the front wall. Each post comprises a hook ( ) at an end thereof. The posts are extended through the cutouts. The panel is then rotated so that the posts slide along the slots. The pins snappingly engage in the through holes of the front wall, and the hooks of the posts engage with the front wall at ends of the slots. The panel is thereby securely mounted to the front wall of the chassis.

Panel mounting apparatus

A motherboard mounting device ( ) includes a standoff ( ) and an annular elastic clip ( ), both of which are made of electrically conductive material. The standoff includes a head ( ), a body ( ), and a neck ( ) between the head and the body. The clip is undulated, and defines a central opening ( ). The clip has a plurality of radial upper and lower ridges ( ). The clip is mounted around the neck of the standoff. Several motherboard mounting devices are used to mount a motherboard ( ) to a computer enclosure. The heads of the standoffs are extended through the motherboard, and the motherboard is pushed horizontally so it is sandwiched between the heads and the bodies. The motherboard is accordingly securely mounted to the enclosure. The upper ridges and the heads maintain good electrical contact with a grounding trace formed on both upper and lower surfaces of the motherboard.

Circuit board mounting device

A disk drive mounting device assembly ( ) includes two fasteners ( ), a drive cage ( ) having a disk drive received therein, two mounting brackets ( ), and a chassis ( ). Each fastener is generally U-shaped. Outer and inner latches ( ) are formed on opposite sides of the fastener. A locating protrusion ( ) and a mounting protrusion ( ) extend forwardly from the fastener. A spring finger ( ) extends rearwardly from a front of the fastener. The drive cage defines two mounting holes ( ) in rear ends of opposite sides thereof. The mounting brackets are mounted on the chassis symmetrically opposite from each other. The inner latches of the fasteners protrude into the slideways and engage in the mounting holes of the drive cage.

A retaining device ( ) for a sensor ( ) includes a front wall ( ), a rear wall ( ), and a sidewall ( ) connecting between the front wall and the rear wall. a pair of poles ( ) extends perpendicularly from the sidewall. A pair of L-shaped hooks ( ) is arranged at the front and rear walls respectively. The sensor defines a pair of through holes ( ). In assembly, the sensor is received in the retaining device, with the poles of the retaining device being received in the through holes of the sensor. The combined retaining device and sensor is then attached to an internal side panel ( ) of a computer enclosure ( ). The hooks resiliently engage with the internal side panel at aperture ( ) thereof.

A retaining device ( ) for mounting a switch ( ) to a computer enclosure ( ) includes a main wall ( ) and left and right side walls ( ) cooperatively defining a space therebetween for accommodating the switch therein. A pair of pins ( ) is stamped perpendicularly from the main wall. An extension tab ( ) extends from the left side wall and defines a through aperture ( ) therein. A bent tab ( ) extends from the right side wall. In assembly, the switch is received in the retaining device with the pins being received in through holes of the switch. The combined retaining device and switch is then attached to a panel ( ) of the enclosure ( ). The bent tab is engagingly received in a locking aperture of the panel.
