A system includes a signal generator and a signal combiner. The signal generator is configured to output a first signal having a first frequency and to output one or more signals having the first frequency and having phases shifted relative to the first signal by predetermined amounts. The signal combiner is configured to combine the first signal and the one or more signals to output a frequency multiplied second signal having a second frequency. The second frequency is greater than the first frequency.

Frequency multipliers

An apparatus includes a first circuit transmitting a first signal to a port, a second circuit receiving a second signal from the port, a first peak-notch filter coupled between the port and the first circuit and configured to pass the first signal and block the second signal, a second peak-notch filter coupled between the port and the second circuit and configured to pass the second signal and block the first signal, and a third filter coupled between an input of the first filter and a ground or between an output of the second filter and the ground. The first signal has a first frequency and the second signal has a second frequency that is different from the first frequency.

Integrated duplexer

A system including an amplifier circuit configured to amplify an input and generate an output, a bias circuit configured to bias the amplifier circuit, and a feedback circuit configured to generate feedback based on the input and the output, and to adjust the bias of the amplifier circuit based on the feedback to reduce amplitude nonlinearity in the output. A digital pre-distortion circuit is configured to reduce phase nonlinearity in the output.

Power amplifier with wide band AM-AM feedback and digital pre-distortion

The present disclosure describes self-biasing radio frequency circuitry. In some aspects a radio frequency (RF) signal is amplified via a circuit having a first transistor configured to source current to an output of the circuit and a second transistor configured to sink current from the output of the circuit, and another signal is provided, without active circuitry, from the output of the circuit to a gate of the first transistor effective to bias a voltage at the output of the circuit. By so doing, the output of the circuit can be biased without active circuitry which can reduce design complexity of and substrate area consumed by the circuit.

Self-biasing radio frequency circuitry

Aspects of the disclosure provide a circuit that includes a detector, a loop filter and a controller. The detector is configured to generate a first signal indicative a timing difference between a reference clock signal and a feedback clock signal. The feedback clock signal is generated based on an oscillating signal from an oscillator. The oscillator includes a first tuning circuit and a second tuning circuit to tune a frequency of the oscillating signal. The loop filter is configured to filter out a portion of frequency components from the first signal to generate a second signal for tuning the first tuning circuit of the oscillator. The controller is configured to tune the second tuning circuit based on the first signal and the second signal.

Method and apparatus to calibrate frequency synthesizer

A transformer includes a first loops and second loops. The first loops include a first set of input terminals. The first loops include at least three loops that are conductively coupled to each other in series by first crossovers. The second loops include a first set of output terminals. The second loops include at least three loops that are conductively coupled to each other in series by second crossovers. Each of the second conductive loops is inductively coupled to and nested within a respective one of the first conductive loops.

A method adjusts an amplitude of a power amplifier output voltage based on an amplitude feedback signal and adjusts a phase of the power amplifier output voltage based on a phase feedback signal. The method also controls a power efficiency of the power amplifier output voltage.

Techniques for efficient radio frequency power amplifier

Systems and methods for power amplification using multiple digital amplifiers are provided. A power amplifier includes a first digital amplifier configured to process a digital input signal to generate a first analog output signal. The first analog output signal is configured to have a magnitude corresponding to amplitude information of the digital input signal. The power amplifier further includes a second digital amplifier configured to process an adjusted digital input signal to generate a second analog output signal. The second analog output signal is configured to have a magnitude corresponding to amplitude information of the adjusted digital input signal. An adjustment module configured to adjust amplitude information and phase information of the digital input signal generates the adjusted digital input signal. The digital input signal is adjusted to control a relationship between the first analog output signal and the second analog output signal.

Digital power amplifier

Disclosed is a time-to-digital (TDC) converter comprising an analog voltage source. An analog-to-digital converter quantizes two voltage samples in response to receiving a first input signal at a first time tand a second input signal at a second time t. The first and second digital signals are combined to produce a digital signal that represents the difference (t&#x2212;t).

High resolution sampling-based time to digital converter

A radio frequency transmitting system which includes first and second amplifiers, a power detector, and a calibration module. The first amplifier amplifies an input signal to generate an amplified signal in accordance with a programmable gain. The second amplifier transmits an output signal based on the amplified signal. The output signal is transmitted at a particular power by the second amplifier. The power detector measures the particular power at which the output signal is transmitted by the second amplifier. The calibration module adjusts the programmable gain of the first amplifier by a calibration offset so that the particular power measurement matches a predetermined power. The calibration module includes offset generation modules that each generate a respective calibration offset candidate based on the particular power measurement. The calibration module also includes a selection module that selects, based on the predetermined power, one of the calibration offset candidates as the calibration offset.

Closed-loop power control using multiple feedback loops

A two-pin transmit/receive switch design includes a switching component configured to selectively switch in elements for a transmit signal path and elements for a receive signal path. A capacitor in the transmit signal path may be switched out when receiving signals on the receive signal path. Being able to selectively switch out the capacitor allows the capacitor value to be selected for optimal operation during transmit mode. For example, insertion loss may be minimized. In addition, elements in the receive signal path may be optimized (e.g., impedance matching) without being affected by or affecting the optimization that was performed for the transmit signal path.

Frequency multipliers having corresponding methods and multifunction radios comprise: N multipliers, wherein N is an integer greater than one; wherein the multipliers are connected in series such that each of the multipliers, except for a first one of the multipliers, is configured to mix a periodic input signal with an output of another respective one of the multipliers; wherein the first one of the multipliers is configured to mix the periodic input signal with the periodic input signal.

Frequency multiplication using self-mixing

Disclosed is a transmit/receive circuit arrangement wherein a transceiver circuit including a transmit/receive switch is fabricated on an integrated circuit chip. A matching network is wholly disposed off-chip relative to the integrated circuit chip. In embodiments, at least a portion of the matching network is formed off-chip and a portion of the matching network is formed on-chip.
