An electrical connector includes an insulative housing and a number of terminals retained in the insulative housing. The insulative housing has a mating surface, a mounting surface, and a slot going through the mounting surface. The terminal received in the slot includes an interference portion retained in the slot, a contacting portion disposed around the mating surface, and a soldering leg extending downwardly beyond the mounting surface. The interference portion has two barbs disposed at two opposite sides thereof, respectively. The terminal includes a blocking portion connecting between the interference portion and the soldering leg. The width of the blocking portion is greater than the width of the interference portion.

Electrical connector

An electrical connector () includes an insulative housing (), a set of contacts () retained in the insulative housing () and a shell (). The shell () has a mating port to mate with a connector. The insulative housing () comprises a first body () and a second body () assembled together. The first body () includes a first tongue plate (), the first tongue plate () defines a receiving cavity (), the second body () is exposed in the mating port and includes a second tongue portion (). The first tongue plate () forms a first identification unit, the second tongue portion () forms another identification unit different from the first identification unit. As a result, user can sign if the electrical connector () can mate with at least two kinds of connectors.

A sinking electrical connector defines a receiving space for receiving a corresponding plug and includes an insulative housing, a plurality of contacts retained on the housing, and a metal shell covering the housing. The shell includes a top wall, a bottom wall opposite to the top wall, a pair of side walls, and at least one mounting member. The mounting member has a first extending plate extending laterally from the side wall, a second extending plate extending backwardly from the first extending plate, a third extending plate extending inwardly toward the side wall from the second plate, and a mounting tail extending downwardly from the second extending plate to be mounted onto a printed circuit board.

Sinking electrical connector with an improved mounting member

An electrical connector includes an insulative housing including a base portion and mating tongue plate protruding forwardly from the base portion; two contact modules being retained with each other and each including an insulative block, and a row of contacts being insert molded in the insulative housing, and a metal shell enclosing the insulative housing and the contact modules. A receiving space is formed between the shell and the tongue plate. The insulative blocks each defines a front portion inserted in the cavity of the insulative housing for the contact modules being retained with the insulative housing reliably.

A stacked electrical connector includes a first insulator and a second insulator mounted together. The first insulator includes a first connector and a receiving opening under a bottom wall of the first connector. The second insulator includes a second connector and a top wall. The bottom wall of the first connector includes a first retention member and the top wall of the second insulator defines a second retention member for mating with the first retention member. The first retention member is a protrusion or a dovetail shaped recess, and the second retention member is a rest of the protrusion or the dovetail shaped recess. The protrusion has an upper narrow section and a lower wide section under a condition that when the protrusion is received in the dovetail shaped recess, a movement therebetween can be prevented.

A stacked electrical connector includes an upper mating port, a lower mating port, an insulative separate portion separating the upper and the lower mating ports, and an additional metal shell covering the separate portion. The upper and lower mating ports include first and second metal shells, respectively. The additional metal shell includes a main body shielding a front surface of the separate portion and a pair of side walls extending backwardly from the main body to abut against the opposite walls. At least one side wall includes a lower bending portion attached to the second metal shell in order to form a much larger grounding area for EMI protection.

A stacked electrical connector includes an upper mating port, a lower mating port, an insulative separate portion separating the upper and the lower mating ports, and an additional metal shell covering the separate portion. The upper and lower mating ports include first and second metal shells, respectively. The additional metal shell includes a main body shielding a front surface of the separate portion and a pair of side walls extending backwardly from the main body to abut against the opposite walls. At least one side wall includes a lower bending portion attached to the second metal shell in order to form a much larger grounding area for Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) protection.
