A method of removing metal ions is provided, which includes contacting a metal removal composition with a solution containing metal ions for removing the metal ions from the solution, wherein the metal removal composition includes a polymer with a chemical structure of: wherein Q is a quinoline-based group, n=90&#x2dc;450, o=10&#x2dc;50, and p=0&#x2dc;20. The metal removal composition has a type of fiber or film. In addition, the metal removal composition has a porosity of 60% to 90%.

A multilayer composite membrane consists essentially of a porous support layer, an inorganic porous layer, a polymer porous layer, and a separation layer. The inorganic porous layer consists of inorganic particles and is disposed on the porous support layer. The polymer porous layer is disposed on the inorganic porous layer. The separation layer is disposed on the polymer porous layer.

Multilayer composite membrane

A liquid crystal polymer (LCP) composite film is provided. The LCP composite film includes 88 to 99 weight percent of a liquid crystal polymer based on the total weight of the LCP composite film and 1 to 12 weight percent of a toughening agent based on the total weight of the LCP composite film. The toughening agent includes a copolymer selected from a group consisting of a thermoplastic polyolefin elastomer, a glycidyl methacrylate copolymer, a polystyrene elastomer, a polyester elastomer, and a mixture thereof.

In an embodiment of the disclosure, a separator utilized in a lithium battery is provided. The separator includes a non-woven polyester support, a porous layer of polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) or its derivatives formed on the non-woven polyester support, a layer of UV-curing or thermal-curing polymers formed on top of the porous layer of polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) or its derivatives.

A multilayer battery separator is provided. The multilayer battery separator includes a porous polyethylene (PE) film, and a porous thermal resistant film selected from a group consisting of: a weight ratio of polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) and cellulose of 90/10-40/60; a weight ratio of polyvinylidene fluoride and polyethylene glycol (PEG) of 99/1-85/15; and polyimide (PI), and combinations thereof. A method for manufacturing the multilayer battery separator is also provided.
