An aqueous dispersion of a silicone pressure sensitive adhesive base can be combined with a curing agent and cured to form a silicone pressure sensitive adhesive. The aqueous dispersion of the silicone pressure sensitive adhesive base includes a bis-hydroxyl-terminated polydiorganosiloxane; a polyorganosilicate resin; cumene; a surfactant; and water. A curing agent such as a peroxide compound or an aminosilane may be combined with the aqueous disperison of the silicone pressure sensitive adhesive base to form a silicone pressure sensitive adhesive composition. A pressure sensitive adhesive article may be formed by a method including coating a surface of a substrate with the silicone pressure sensitive adhesive composition, removing water, and curing the silicon pressure sensitive adhesive composition to form a silicone pressure sensitive adhesive on the surface of the substrate.

Aqueous dispersion of a silicone pressure sensitive adhesive base and methods for preparation and use of the dispersion

Apparatus and method for processing an image-charge/current signal for an ion(s) undergoing oscillatory motion within an ion analyser apparatus. The method comprises: obtaining a recording of the image-charge/current signal (-) in the time domain. Then, by a signal processing unit, a value for the period (T) of a periodic signal component is determined within the recorded signal. Subsequently, the recorded signal is segmented into a number of successive time segments [0;T] of duration corresponding to the period (T). These lime segments are then co-registered in a first time dimension (t) defining the period (T). The co-registered time segments are then separated along a second time dimension (t) transverse to the first time dimension (t). This generates a stack of time segments collectively defining a 2-dimensional (2D) function. The 2D function varies both across the stack in the first time dimension and along the stack in the second time dimension.

Time-frequency analysis

An apparatus configured to produce an image charge/current signal representative of trapped ions undergoing oscillatory motion. The apparatus includes: an electrostatic ion trap configured to trap ions such that the trapped ions undergo oscillatory motion in the electrostatic ion trap; an image charge/current detector configured to obtain an image charge/current signal representative of trapped ions undergoing oscillatory motion in the electrostatic ion trap, wherein the electrostatic ion trap configured to trap ions such that the image charge/current signal in the time domain repeats, for ions of a given mass/charge ratio m, at a frequency f(m) [Hz] with a signal period T(m) [s]. The image charge/current detector includes one or more pickup electrodes configured to obtain the image charge/current signal. The one or more pickup electrodes are arranged to detect two signal pulses caused by ions having the given mass/charge ratio m within each signal period T(m). The one or more pickup electrodes are further arranged such that the time separation &#x394;t(m) between the two signal pulses caused by ions having the given mass/charge ratio m within each signal period T(m) is approximately equal to 2p+1/2.n.f(m) so as to suppress a predetermined nth harmonic within the image charge/current signal, where n is an integer that is 1 or more, and where p is an integer that is 0 or more.

Apparatus configured to produce an image charge/current signal

A method of processing an image charge/current signal representative of trapped ions undergoing oscillatory motion. The method includes: identifying a plurality of fundamental frequencies potentially present in the image charge/current signal based on an analysis of peaks in a frequency spectrum corresponding to the image charge/current signal in the frequency domain, wherein each candidate fundamental frequency falls in a frequency range of interest; deriving a basis signal for each candidate fundamental frequency using a calibration signal; and estimating relative abundances of ions corresponding to the candidate fundamental frequencies by mapping the basis signals to the image charge/current signal. At least one candidate fundamental frequency is calculated using a frequency associated with a peak that falls outside the frequency range of interest and that has been determined as representing a second or higher order harmonic of the candidate fundamental frequency.

Emulsion type silicone pressure sensitive adhesive composition and process for the production thereof

An electrostatic ion trap for mass analysis includes a first array of electrodes and a second array of electrodes, spaced from the first array of electrode. The first and second arrays of electrodes may be planar arrays formed by parallel strip electrodes or by concentric, circular or part-circular electrically conductive rings. The electrodes of the arrays are supplied with substantially the same pattern of voltage whereby the distribution of electrical potential in the space between the arrays is such as to reflect ions isochronously in a flight direction causing them to undergo periodic, oscillatory motion in the space, focused substantially mid-way between the arrays. Amplifier circuitry is used to detect image current having frequency components related to the mass-to-charge ratio of ions undergoing the periodic, oscillatory motion.

Mass analyser and method of mass analysis

A mass analyser comprises a pair of electrode arrays. Each array has a set of focusing electrodes which are supplied, in use, with voltage to create an electrostatic field in a space between the electrode arrays causing ions to undergo periodic, oscillatory motion in the space, ions passing between electrodes of the sets of focusing electrodes and being repeatedly focused at a center plane, mid-way between the electrode arrays. At least one electrode of each set of focusing electrodes has an electrode surface closer to the center plane than the electrode surfaces of other electrodes of the same set. The analyzer may be an ion trap mass analyser or a multi-turn ToF mass analyzer.

Mass analyser

The invention 'Ion Trap Array (ITA)' pertains generally to the field of ion storage and analysis technologies, and particularly to the ion storing apparatus and mass spectrometry instruments which separate ions by its character such as mass-to-charge ratio. The aim of this invention is providing an apparatus for ion storage and analysis comprising at least two or more rows of parallel placed electrode array wherein each electrode array includes at least two or more parallel bar-shaped electrodes, by applying different phase of alternating current voltages on different bar electrodes to create alternating electric fields inside the space between two parallel electrodes of different rows of electrode arrays, multiple linear ion trapping fields paralleled constructed in the space between the different rows of electrode arrays which are open to adjacent each other without a real barrier. This invention also provides a method for ion storage and analysis involving with the trapping, cooling and mass-selected analyzing of ions by this apparatus mentioned which constructs multiple conjoint linear ion trapping fields in the space between the different rows of electrode arrays.

Ion trap with parallel bar-electrode arrays

A circuit for generating a voltage waveform at an output node. The circuit includes a voltage rail connected to the output node via a voltage rail switch; an anchor node connected to the output node via an inductor and a bidirectional switch, wherein the bidirectional switch includes two or more transistors connected in series; and a control unit configured to change the voltage at the output node by controlling the voltage rail switch and the bidirectional switch so that, if a load capacitance is connected to the output node, a resonant circuit is established between the inductor and the load capacitance. The circuit may be included in an apparatus for use in processing charged particles, e.g. for use in performing mass spectrometry or ion mobility spectrometry.

A circuit for generating a voltage waveform at an output node. The present invention provides a method for preparing an ion optical device. A substrate is fabricated with a hard material adapted for a grinding process, the substrate at least including a planar surface, and including at least one insulating material layer. Next, one or more linear grooves are cut on the planar surface, to form multiple discrete ion optical electrode regions on the planar surface separated by the linear grooves. Then, conductive leads are fabricated on other substrate surfaces than the planar surface and in a through hole inside the substrate, to provide voltages required on ion optical electrodes. By using high-hardness materials in cooperation with high-precision machining, higher precision and a desired discrete electrode contour can be obtained.
