A socket connector for settling an integrated circuit module therein and connecting a sensor therewith comprises a base, a center plate mounted on the base, a plurality of contacts retained on the center plate and a retaining member. The base defines a slot for receiving the retaining member and a fastening hole for receiving the sensor, the retaining member comprises a blocking abutting against the sensor received in the fastening hole and a spring urging the blocking toward the sensor.

An IC socket for electrically connecting an integrated circuit module to a printed circuit board comprises: an insulative housing defining two pairs of sidewalls, said sidewalls forming a recessed area defining a plurality of passageways therein, one of the sidewalls of the housing forms a receiving channel and a fastening channel communicating with the receiving channel; a plurality of conductive contacts received in corresponding passageways; and a fastener to be mounted in the fastening channel, the improvement wherein: a separate sleeve is interferentially disposed in the fastening channel and the fastener is screwed in the sleeve.

Electrical connector

Provided is an electrical connector () including an insulative housing () defining a number of passageways () and a number of contacts () received in the corresponding passageways, respectively. Each passageway defines a T-shaped cross-sectional configuration including a narrow fastening slot () and a wide receiving slot () communicated with each other. The contact forms a planar medial section () interferingly secured in the fastening slot and a dome-shaped bulge () projecting from the planar medial section. A lying wall () adjacent the narrow fastening slot correspondingly defines a recess () to receive the bulge. Therefore, the contact can be securely retained in the passageway and free from disengaging or deflecting from the passageway.
