Systems and methods for time-resolved spectroscopy. Exemplary methods include: providing first, second, and third light using an excitation source; receiving first scattered light from a material responsive to the providing the first light; signaling the detector, after a delay, to provide a first spectrum of the received first scattered light; receiving second scattered light from the material responsive to the providing the second light; signaling the detector, after the delay, to provide a second spectrum of the received second scattered light; receiving third scattered light from the material responsive to the providing the third light; signaling the detector, after the delay, to provide a third spectrum of the received third scattered light; recovering a spectrum of the material using the first spectrum, second spectrum, and third spectrum; and identifying at least one molecule of the material using the recovered spectrum and a database of identified spectra.

Measuring biological analytes using time-resolved spectroscopy

Systems and methods for adjusting for non-invasive measurement of biological analytes. Exemplary methods include: illuminating an analyte using first light, the first light having a first excitation wavelength; detecting a first spectrum from the analyte illuminated by the first light, the first spectrum including a first Raman signal and fluorescence; illuminating the analyte using second light, the second light having a second excitation wavelength; detecting a second spectrum; illuminating the analyte using third light, the third light having a third excitation wavelength; detecting a third spectrum; recovering the first Raman signal using the first spectrum, the second spectrum, and the third spectrum using an inverse transform; and using the first Raman signal to identify and measure at least one molecule of the analyte using a database of identified Raman signals.

Non-invasive measurement of biological analytes

An optical probe assembly includes a light guide that includes a core region and a surrounding cladding region. The core region is constructed so as to minimize the creation of a relatively broadband spurious background noise signal when conveying the Raman pump light to the specimen, and the cladding region is constructed so as to satisfy the wave guiding reflection requirements of the Raman pump light and the Raman signature. A Raman spectroscopy system includes: a laser for producing Raman pump light; an optical probe assembly; and an optical spectrum analyzer for receiving the Raman signature of a specimen and identifying and characterizing the specimen based upon the spectrum of the Raman signature. Related methods are also disclosed.
