An apparatus is disclosed for mounting an auxiliary contact external to an electromagnetically operated electrical contactor so that the auxiliary contact may be operated by a carrier of the contactor. The apparatus comprises: a wall of the auxiliary contact; at least one rib projecting from the wall of the auxiliary contact, the at least one rib arranged to be matingly inserted into at least one slot in an external side of the contactor so that the rib attaches the auxiliary contact to the contactor; and, a flexible lever formed from a portion of the wall, and the lever locks into a mating structure when the rib attaches the auxiliary contact to the contactor in order to lock the auxiliary contact in position on the external side of the contactor.

The invention is an electrical shock prevention apparatus for electrical equipment having conductors capable of being connected to a voltage source comprising, a shield made of nonconductive material and guarding the conductors on at least three sides, and a cover attached to the shield by a living hinge so that when the cover is closed, the conductors are not accessible from a fourth side, and when the cover is open, the conductors are accessible from the fourth side. The invention also has rails molded into the side of the electrical apparatus, and grooves molded into a side of the shield so that the shield is attached to the apparatus by the grooves sliding over the rails. Protrusions extending from the side of the electrical apparatus snap into a recess of the shield, thereby locking the shield into position on the rails.

There are provided arc quenching plates for leading an arc formed by operation of electric contacts away from the contacts, and there is provided a housing for holding the arc quenching plates. The housing has grooves made into opposing internal walls, and the grooves extend from a first side of the housing for a predetermined distance into the housing, the arc quenching plates are insertable from the first side of the housing into the grooves, and a retaining plate holds the arc quenching plates in place in the grooves. The retaining plate may have an exhaust channel between the housing and the retaining plate for exhaust of arc gases in a direction substantially parallel to a plane of the retaining plate, and substantially perpendicular to a plane of the arc quenching plates.

An improved fuse holder system which incorporates a rejection feature in the fuse holder, as well as its receptacle. The fuse holder and receptacle are arranged to reject standard fuses, as well as rejection type fuses, having a lower interrupt rating as may be used in control circuits of contactors and starters.
