An equipment enclosure free air cooling assembly includes an air outlet arranged to deliver air to inside an equipment enclosure and an air inlet arranged to receive air from outside the equipment enclosure. An air flow pathway is provided through which air entering the air inlet must pass to reach the air outlet. An adjustable screen assembly has a screen filter element. An adjustment mechanism is operable to selectively utilize different regions of the screen filter element for filtering air passing through the air flow pathway at different times.

Equipment enclosure free-air cooling assembly with indexing pre-screen

An equipment enclosure with temperature control components, an equipment enclosure temperature control unit, an equipment enclosure temperature control method, and various modular temperature control subassemblies are respectively disclosed for controlling the temperature of equipment in an equipment chamber. The temperature control components and unit may be implemented with a modular design wherein an air-conditioning unit is selectively mountable on an air handler assembly. The temperature control components and unit may support air-conditioning, free-air-cooling, free-air-cooling-with-return, and heating modes of operation. An emergency-free-air-cooling mode of operation may also be supported.

Equipment enclosure with multi-mode temperature control system

An equipment enclosure includes an air exhaust opening and an air intake opening at respective upper and lower regions of the enclosure, and an interior equipment chamber configured to house controlled temperature equipment at a controlled temperature equipment area. A temperature diverter system includes a warm air exhaust subsystem and a warm air circulation subsystem. The warm air exhaust subsystem is operable to vent warm air in the enclosure through the air exhaust opening in order to cool the controlled temperature equipment area. The warm air circulation subsystem is operable to circulate warm air in the enclosure to the controlled temperature equipment area in order to warm that area. The equipment enclosure further includes one or more temperature sensors and a temperature controller for controlling operations of the warm air exhaust subsystem and the warm air circulation system based on input from the temperature sensor(s).

A spark gap for protecting an electrical circuit from voltage surges includes a first electrical circuit trace element having a first end face of defined thickness and length, and a second electrical circuit trace element having a second end face of defined thickness and length. The first and second end faces are spaced from each other along their respective lengths to provide an air gap having a defined gap width. The gap width is of a size to provide a required spark gap breakover voltage under design conditions of temperature, humidity and air pressure. The air gap also has a defined gap length corresponding to the length of the first and second end faces. The gap length is of a size that maximizes spark gap life over repeated discharge cycles without introducing undesirable amounts of capacitance.

A broadband telecommunication network (such as a cable television distribution system) includes a plurality of switching units (such as taps) controlling subscriber access to the network. The switching units are controlled from a central location (such as a head end) using minimal network transmission medium power. A repeating sequence of switching unit control messages is sent from the central location across the network. Each of the messages is addressed to an individual one of the switching units. Each switching unit is periodically powered up from a low power sleep state to a higher power operational wake state in synchronization with a corresponding one of the control messages being sent from the central location. After a switching unit's corresponding control message is processed, the switching unit is returned to the lower power sleep state.

A low cost control system for precise positioning employs an a.c. motor and a variable frequency power source for the motor. When the desired position is approached, the frequency of the source is decreased to a low constant value, and the motor is stopped in timed relation to the leading edge of a feedback signal from a position responsive feedback sensor.

A control system for an NC machine incorporates a personal computer and an auxiliary control having an auxiliary microprocessor connected together and with the machine, via communication channels The personal computer and auxiliary controller are both provided with apparatus for controlling operations in a plurality of sequences, all of which run simultaneously, without requiring any modification in the normal operating system of the personal computer. The control program of the auxiliary controller is downloaded from the personal computer, and the sequences in both contain a number of consecutive states for each sequence, with each state characterized by one or more instructions and an operational time. One state of each sequence is designated the current state and the instruction of the current state of each sequence is performed in consecutive order, except when a priority instruction is recognized, after which the instruction of consecutive states of a single sequence are performed successively until a priority halt instruction is recognized. The auxiliary controller can operate autonomously to facilitate time-critical control operations without delays imposed by the need to communicate with the personal computer, but the personal computer can communicate with the auxiliary controller on demand for supervision and control when necessary or desired.

A method and apparatus for ensuring sheet separation of a single sheet workpiece from a stack of workpiece sheets which consists of a lifting assembly having at least three spaced sets of sheet workpiece holding suction members with at least a poriton of one set being reciprocatable in a vertical movement to cause flexure of a sheet being raised by the lifting device to cause separation of an underlying sheet which may have adhered to the sheet being lifted.
