A retail merchandising system includes a plurality of gondolas positioned in a retail space, a plurality of visible light communication (VLC) sources positioned in the retail space, and at least one VLC sensor disposed at a fixed location relative to each of the plurality of gondolas. The plurality of VLC sources and the at least one VLC sensor are configured to cooperatively identify a location of the gondolas in the retail space. With pre-stored planograms and the locations of the store gondolas, product locations can be readily determined. Additionally, the system can determine customer locations and communicate with customers and/or track customer activity.

A retail merchandising system includes a plurality of gondolas positioned in a retail space, a plurality of visible light communication (VLC) sources positioned in the retail space, and at least one VLC sensor disposed at a fixed location relative to each of the plurality of gondolas. A method is provided for managing item placement in a store. A count of electronic price labels (EPLs) is sent, by a processor, to a handheld device indicating a quantity of EPLs needed in a select portion of a planogram. An EPL identifier is received, by the processor, from the handheld device for each of the quantity of EPLs equal to the count. An item in the portion of the planogram is linked, by the processor, to each EPL. Placement information is sent, by the processor, to each electronic price label. The placement information corresponds with the linked item and is configured to be rendered on a display of each EPL.

Product management using electronic price labels

A cover for a mobile device includes an engaging portion for engaging an exterior surface of the mobile device to secure the cover to the mobile device, a back protective panel for protecting a back surface of the mobile device and at least one wall extending from an interior side of the back protective panel and contacting the back surface of the mobile device. A theft-detection device capable of generating a signal in response to passing through a field is positioned on the interior side of the back protective panel such that a height of the theft-detection device is less than a height of the at least one wall.
