Techniques for controlling redemption of offers are provided. A checkout process is detected having multiple offers associated with an item or items being purchased. Each offer is evaluated based on custom rules and some, all, or portions of the offers are selectively applied to a retail price for the item to arrive at a final price for the item during the checkout process.

A promotion apparatus and method which builds customer loyalty. The promotion apparatus includes a computer, including a display for displaying information to a shopper and a recognition device for identifying the shopper and recording customer choices. The computer executes a game, identifies the shopper, establishes a first game situation for the shopper, generates a number of first results, generates a number of second results using the first game situation and the first results as inputs, generates a second game situation using the second results as input, and determines whether to issue an award to the shopper using the second results as input and only if the first game situation is a previous game situation from a previous play by the shopper.

Promotion apparatus and method

A universal price/reward system for determining product prices or reward values. The system disclosed is implemented by utilizing a table of prices, reward information, or the like distinct from a POS system's existing Price Look-Up (PLU) file format. The table data utilized may be appended to an existing PLU file, or it may exist in a separate file located on the same file server, or on a separate file server. This approach allows a retail merchant to easily create and modify incentive pricing programs and promotional reward programs without having to modify the basic structure of the PLU file or the POS application program. The universal price/reward system can be implemented as part of the PLU file, or through a separate companion file on a POS store controller or file server.
