A connector for a coiled tubing end anchors internally and seals externally. The anchor profile is split with a gap to clear an internal spline without need to remove the spline to allow a seal to enter the coiled tubing since the seal is mounted internally to a sleeve that envelops the end of the coiled tubing. Component relative rotation extends the internal anchor radially against the coiled tubing inner wall to secure the connection with the seal engaged to the coiled tubing outer wall.

A method of controllably disintegrating a downhole article comprises disposing a first article in a downhole environment, the first article being the downhole article to be disintegrated; disposing a second article in the downhole environment after the first article is disposed, the second article carrying a device, a chemical, or a combination comprising at least one of the foregoing; and disintegrating the first article with the device, chemical, or the combination comprising at least one of the foregoing from the second article.

Downhole tools and methods of controllably disintegrating the tools

A system and method for confirming ignition of a fuel source in a wellbore. The system includes a tool, a fuel source associated with the tool, a control unit to ignite the fuel source, and a sensor to receive an ignition parameter corresponding to the fuel source. The ignition parameter indicates that ignition of the fuel source has occurred.

System and method for downhole ignition detection

A combination tool allows delivery of a tool such as a packer or bridge plug with a variety of well cleanup tools that are retracted for running in. Once in the vicinity of where the plug or packer is to be set or if an internal diameter is to be targeted using clean up tools after passing a restriction, an inner mandrel can be activated such as in conjunction with a j-slot to selectively extend one or more cleaning tools against the force of a return spring out though openings in an outer housing. Circulation is established either through an open port or by opening a circulation port with mandrel movement. Just the zone near where the packer or bridge plug is to be set is cleaned. The cleaning tools retract after use with further mandrel movement. The packer or plug is picked up into position and set and the bottom hole assembly is removed. The plug or packer can be set in a variety of ways.

A disintegrating plug uses a setting tool to push a swage into the plug body that has external ribs that contact the wall of the surrounding tubular. The ribs retain the body to the surrounding tubular wall with frictional contact. Some leakage may ensue but in fracturing some leakage does not matter if enough volume under the right pressure reaches the formation. The sheared member during the setting comes out with the mandrel that is part of the setting tool. In an alternative embodiment one or more o-rings are used to seal while anchoring is assisted by the hardened insert(s) that can be snap fitted in using rib flexing or that can be a c-ring that is expanded and snapped in. The o-ring(s) are axially spaced from the insert(s).

Shear member designs in various formats are presented with additional features for segment retention and subsequent removal after a shearing event and removal of the tool from a subterranean location. In some embodiments a portion of the shear member is retained by threads so that the segment stays in the part and then can be removed at the surface with putting a notch in the segment and removing it with a screwdriver. In another embodiment a retaining pin in an intersecting bore can hold onto a sheared remnant of the shear pin by pushing the remnant laterally in the bore that it is mounted. Another design for a shear ring uses a split design with the right angle portion of the ring that gets sheared appearing in segments so that the ring can be rapidly snapped into a groove at its outer periphery followed by a retaining cap facilitating removal.

A tool setting arrangement includes a mandrel, and a tool positionable at the mandrel. The tool includes, a cone, and at least one slip in operable communication with the cone configured to radially expand to set the tool when the slip is moved relative to the cone with at least a setting load. The at least one slip has a portion configured to engage with a feature of the mandrel such that movement of the mandrel relative to the cone causes the at least one slip to move relative to the cone, at least one of the portion and the feature is configured to release at a release load to disengage the mandrel from the tool. The release load is selected to be greater than the setting load.

A one-way flowable anchoring system includes a plurality of same anchors that are sealedly fixedly engagable within a structure and each of the plurality of same anchors has a flow bore longitudinally therethrough with a first seat and a second seat on opposing ends thereof The system also has a plug positionable within the structure between two of the plurality of same anchors positioned longitudinally adjacent one another. The plug is sealedly engagable to substantially block flow through the flow bore of a first of the plurality of same anchors when sealingly engaged with the first seat thereof and the plug is seatingly engagable to allow flow around the plug and into the flow bore of the second of the plurality of same anchors through an area at least equal to that of the flow bore when the plug is seated at the second seat thereof

Anchoring systems for disposition in wellbores and tubular devices comprise a tubular member defined by two or more radially expandable slip members. The upper ends of the slip members are shaped such that when the slip members are in their respective run-in positions and in their respective set positions, a portion of an upper end of one slip member overlaps a portion of an upper end of another slip member so that the longitudinal space between each slip member that is created when the slip members are in their set position are blocked by the upper end of at least one of the slip members. Thus, in their set position, the upper end of at least one of the slip members provides a back-up to a sealing element that can be disposed adjacent to and in contact with the upper ends of the slip members when in their set positions.
