A process for producing manganese dioxide and zinc metal comprising the steps of:

Integrated process of using chloric acid to separate zinc oxide and

A process for producing manganese dioxide comprising the steps of: (1) reacting manganese oxide with a molar excess of an aqueous chloric acid solution in a reaction zone to form a reaction mixture in said zone comprising chlorine gas, a solid phase containing manganese dioxide, and a liquid phase containing chloric acid and water; the concentration of chloric acid in said liquid phase is greater than about 5% by weight of said liquid phase upon leaving the reaction zone; (2) separating said chlorine gas from said solid phase and said liquid phase; (3) separating said solid phase containing manganese dioxide from liquid phase containing chloric acid and water; (4) removing water from said separated liquid phase to concentrate said chloric acid in said separated liquid phase; and (5) returning said separated and concentrated liquid phase back to said reaction zone for further reaction with manganese oxide.

Process for producing solid manganese dioxide

A process for the separation of a mixture of zinc and manganese oxides by adding the mixture to a chloric acid solution whereby the chloric acid solution oxidizes solid manganese oxide to solid manganese dioxide and causes the zinc oxide to dissolve into soluble zinc ions. The solid manganese dioxide is then separated from the chloric acid solution containing zinc ions.

Process of using chloric acid to separate zinc oxide and manganese oxide

A process for producing a chloroisocyanuric acid compound which comprises reacting cyanuric acid with a chlorinating agent consisting of an aqueous solution of hypochlorous acid substantially free of ionic impurities having a pH of less than about 2. The process produces chloroisocyanuric acid compounds with reduced volumes of effluent solutions and significantly reduced amounts of gas released during operation. The novel process for producing chloroisocyanuric acid compounds can employ solid forms of cyanuric acid as a reactant.
