A cable management apparatus that limits the degree of travel of a FRU (e.g., server, other computing device, power supply, etc.) out of a storage rack to an amount just necessary to service one or more particular components of the FRU (e.g., fan bay, etc.) free of having to power down the FRU which provides a more cost effective maintenance strategy for users. As a result, the disclosed cable management apparatus advantageously allows for the use of shorter cables between the FRU and other devices (e.g., other FRUs, switches, power supplies, etc.), improved airflow through the FRUs and the storage rack, reduced complexity of the cable management apparatus, simplified installation and manipulation of the apparatus, and the like.

Cable management for rack-mounted computing devices

An eject mechanism for a module includes a module casing; a module engaged in the module casing; the module including a cable port; and an eject button for allowing disengagement of the module from the module casing. The eject button prevents the module from disengagement when a cable is plugged into the cable port. A method of ejecting a module from a module casing includes disengaging the module from the module casing upon the pressing of an eject button, and preventing the module from disengagement when a cable is plugged into a cable port of the module.

Quick eject mechanism with cable detection device

The present invention is a method and apparatus for a reliable boot device. The invention comprises a plurality of disk drive which appear to be the same logical unit (LUN) to the computer. Any disk can serve as the boot drive, and any remaining disk serves as a backup boot drive. The LUN is mirrored, which means information written to any disk is automatically written to all disks. In the event of failure of one of the disks, the invention automatically indicates that one disk has led and switches to using all disks which have not failed. A technician can remove the failed disk and replace it with a new disk while the invention is still in use without interruption in the usability of the computer. Once the new disk is placed in the invention, the information on the remaining disks is automatically mirrored to the replacement disk.
