A blower comprising a blower housing, a blower wheel, and a motor. The blower wheel is within the blower housing and has a plurality of blades. The motor is operatively connected to the blower wheel to rotate the blower wheel about an axis of rotation. The blower housing comprises a wall perpendicular to the axis of rotation. The wall has a static tap hole having a leading edge and a trailing edge. The static tap hole is positioned near an axial side of the blower wheel such that as the blower wheel rotates, any of the blades of the blower wheel passes the leading edge of the static tap hole before passing the trailing edge of the static tap hole. The wall comprises a protrusion protruding axially from the wall and toward the blower wheel. The protrusion is located adjacent the trailing edge of the static tap hole.

A combustion air blower includes a blower housing, an impeller fan within the blower housing, and an embossment to restrict airflow from the combustion air blower. The blower housing has a discharge conduit defining a discharge passageway. The discharge conduit is adapted and configured to receive a baffle such that, when the baffle is received, the baffle extends inwardly into the discharge passageway from a first wall towards a second wall opposite the first wall. The baffle restricts airflow within the discharge passageway. The embossment is in the discharge passageway and in the second wall and extends towards the first wall such that the embossment restricts airflow within the discharge passageway. The embossment cooperates with a baffle to provide a reduced cross sectional area of the discharge passageway in comparison to an upstream portion.

Combustion air blower with embossed housing

A blower housing comprises first and second blower housing pieces for surrounding a blower fan. The first blower housing piece comprises a blower discharge section comprising an inner tubular portion, an outer tubular portion, and a drain hole. The inner tubular portion defines a blower discharge passage. The inner and outer tubular portions define an exhaust pipe cavity adapted to receive an end margin of an exhaust pipe. The tubular portions are adapted to enable condensate water that forms on the inner surface of the exhaust pipe to flow into the exhaust pipe cavity. The drain hole extends through the outer tubular portion. The drain hole is configured to enable condensate water flowing into the exhaust pipe cavity to drain from the blower housing. The first blower housing piece is a molded one-piece member.

A furnace blower assembly includes a blower housing a blower and a motor. The blower is positioned within the housing and is adapted to rotate relative to the housing. The motor is coupled to the blower. The housing defines an outlet having an external periphery and an internal periphery. The external periphery or the internal periphery of the outlet is adapted to be fitted to a portion of the external periphery or the internal periphery of the duct. The outlet defines a longitudinal axis. The outlet has a peripheral edge and a protrusion extending outwardly from the external periphery or the internal periphery of the outlet. The protrusion is spaced from the peripheral edge of the outlet and is adapted to abut the peripheral edge of the duct.

Furnace subassembly, furnace blower and associated method

An air blower includes a blower housing, impeller fan, and pressure tap. The blower housing defines a blower housing interior and includes a housing wall portion, an air inlet and an air outlet. The impeller fan is positioned within the blower housing interior. A first end of the pressure tap is outside the blower housing interior and a second end is inside the blower housing interior. A through passage extends through a body portion and a base portion. The base portion includes a radius portion extending both from the body portion towards the second end and radially outward from the body portion. The second end of the pressure tap is positioned closer to the impeller fan than the housing wall portion.

Static pressure tap

A blower assembly includes a housing including an outlet and a cutoff point positioned proximate the outlet. The blower assembly also includes an impeller including a plurality of blades that each includes a tip portion including a radially outer edge and a transition point that divides the radially outer edge into a first portion and a second portion. The impeller is positioned within the housing such that a first radial gap is defined between the cutoff point and the first portion and a second radial gap is defined between the cutoff point and the second portion. The first radial gap includes a constant width that is shorter than a width of the second radial gap.

Blower assembly including a noise attenuating impeller and method for assembling the same

A blower assembly including a blower housing having a side wall with a first portion extending from the initial cutoff through an angle of at least 45&#xb0; or more, the first portion having a radius which is substantially constant or which increases at a relatively small rate. The side wall additionally includes a second portion, extending from the end of the first portion to the outlet, which forms a continuous curve with the first portion and has an increasing radius which is increasing at a larger rate and has a rate of increase that is also increasing with housing angle. The shape of the side wall allows a reduction in the overall size of the blower housing for a given size of impeller.

Extended length cutoff blower

A draft inducer blower for high efficiency furnaces, including a blower housing which provides enhanced contact between the blower housing and the furnace collector box to reduce the flexing and vibration between the blower housing and the collector box. The blower housing includes contact structure which provides a direct abutting contact relationship between the blower housing and the collector box at least along a substantial periphery of the blower housing and/or at one or more rigid transition points on the collector box. In one embodiment, the contact structure can be part of the blower housing body and/or the blower housing cover. In another embodiment, the contact structure can be part of the collector box or furnace to which the blower housing is mounted. When fasteners secure the blower housing to the collector box, the contact structure provides a substantially integral rigid construct between the blower housing and the collector box.

Draft inducer blower mounting feature which reduces overall system vibration

A draft inducer blower for high efficiency furnaces, including a blower housing which facilitates maximum air flow efficiency through the blower housing while reducing air flow noises. The blower housing generally includes a housing body and housing cover which define an exhaust transition therebetween, which transitions the air flow from the circular main cavity of the blower housing to the blower housing outlet. The housing body and housing cover are attached to one another via a lobed joint along the exhaust transition, and each include complementary, smoothly contoured inner surfaces to facilitate smooth air flow through the exhaust transition toward the outlet. Additionally, the housing body and housing cover include cooperating cutoff surfaces which form a broadly radiused cutoff within the blower housing to reduce or eliminate the blade pass noise associated with contact of the air flow from the impeller with the cutoff.

Lobed joint draft inducer blower

A draft inducer blower for high efficiency furnaces, including a blower housing having a housing body and housing cover. The housing body includes a plurality of mounting lugs spaced around its outer periphery, through which fasteners are inserted to secure the blower housing to corresponding mounting holes in a furnace wall. The mounting lugs each include a slot-like opening having a web of material therein and, in each mounting lug, a fastener is threaded through an opening in the web to temporarily retain the fastener in position within its associated mounting lug. In this manner, a blower housing may be shipped to a furnace manufacturer or other point of installation with the fasteners temporarily retained within their associated mounting lugs. During installation, after the mounting lugs of the blower housing are aligned with the mounting holes of the furnace wall, a suitable tool is used to thread the fasteners through the web of material in the mounting lugs and into the mounting holes to secure the blower housing to the furnace wall.
