A conducting film or device multilayer electrode includes a substrate and two transparent or semitransparent conductive layers separated by a transparent or semitransparent intervening layer. The intervening layer includes electrically conductive pathways between the first and second conductive layers to help reduce interfacial reflections occurring between particular layers in devices incorporating the conducting film or electrode.

A system and a method for providing a film having a matte finish. The system includes means for providing a coated substrate, the coated substrate comprising a first coatable material applied to a substrate, the coatable material forming a first major surface of the coated substrate; means for changing the viscosity of the first coatable material from a first viscosity to a second viscosity; a face-side roller having an outer surface positioned to contact the first major surface of the coated substrate to impart a matte finish thereon; and optionally, means for hardening the first coatable material. The method of the invention includes the steps of (1) providing a coated substrate comprising a coatable material disposed on a substrate, the coatable material providing a first major surface of the coated substrate; (2) changing the viscosity of the coatable material from the initial viscosity to a second viscosity; (3) contacting the first major surface of the coated substrate with at least one face-side roller to impart a matte finish; and (4) optionally, hardening the coatable material to provide the film.

System and method for making a film having a matte finish

Electroluminescent devices, and methods of making and using such devices, are disclosed. The electroluminescent devices include a patterned layer on a solvent-susceptible layer. The electroluminescent devices may be used, for example, as full color display devices.

Radiation curable thermal transfer elements including a substrate and a light-to-heat conversion layer overlaying the substrate, and processes to make the thermal transfer elements. The light-to-heat conversion layer is derived from a radiation curable material capable of being cured by exposure to radiation at a curing wavelength and an imaging radiation absorber material not substantially increasing radiation absorbance at the curing wavelength. The radiation curable transfer elements can be used in processes for making organic microelectronic devices.

Radiation curable thermal transfer elements

A thermal transfer donor element is provided which includes a support, light-to-heat conversion layer, interlayer, and thermal transfer layer. When the donor element is brought into contact with a receptor and imagewise irradiated, a portion of the transfer layer is transferred to the receptor. The relative surface texture of the layers can be at least partially controlled, prior to imaging of the donor element, for desired effects in the resulting receptor device. The construction and process of the donor element is useful in making colored images including applications such as color proofs, color filter elements, and organic light emitting displays.
