A Dust Mitigation System ('DMS') is disclosed that includes a fabric-material having a front-surface and a back-surface; a plurality of conductive-fibers within the fabric-material; and a plurality of input-nodes approximately adjacent to the back-surface or the front-surface of the fabric-material. The plurality of conductive-fibers are approximately parallel in a first direction along the fabric-material and are approximately adjacent to the front-surface of the fabric-material and the plurality of input-nodes are in signal communication with the plurality of conductive-fibers and configured to receive an alternating-current (“AC”) voltage-signal from an input-signal-source. The plurality of conductive-fibers are configured to generate an electric-field on the front-surface of the fabric-material in response to the plurality of input-nodes receiving the AC voltage-signal from the input-signal-source and a traveling-wave (from the electric-field) that travels along the front-surface of the fabric-material in a second direction that is transverse to the first direction.

Dust mitigation system utilizing conductive fibers

Disclosed is a Multi-Use Dust Mitigation System ('MDMS'). The MDMS includes a finger section, a hand section physically attached to the finger section, a fabric-material within both the finger section and hand section, a plurality of conductive-fibers within the fabric-material, and a plurality of input-nodes approximately adjacent to the fabric-material. The fabric-material includes a front-surface and a back-surface. The plurality of conductive-fibers are approximately parallel along the fabric-material and are approximately adjacent to the front-surface of the fabric-material. The plurality of input-nodes are in signal communication with the plurality of conductive-fibers and configured to receive an alternating-current (“AC”) voltage-signal from an input-signal-source and the plurality of conductive-fibers are configured to generate an electric-field on the front-surface of the fabric-material in response to the plurality of input-nodes receiving the AC voltage-signal from the input-signal-source.

Multi-use dust mitigation system

Provided are mobile decontamination units and methods of using such units for decontaminating various areas, such as aircraft cabins. A mobile decontamination unit comprises at least one aerosol dispersing nozzle and at least one aerosol directing fan. The nozzle disperses disinfectant in the aerosol form, while the fan directed this aerosol to surfaces being decontaminated. Aerosol dispersing parameters, such the nozzle and fan orientations, dispersing rate, fan speed, and the like, are determined based on area characteristics. Specifically, orientations of different surfaces, temperature, humidity and/or other like characteristics may be considered. Some characteristics may be obtained by the mobile decontamination unit after its deployment in the area, such as using its sensors. Other characteristics, such as area layout, may be preloaded to the mobile decontamination unit prior to its deployment. The dispersing parameters are determined to ensure through decontamination of the surfaces in the area.

Automated decontamination of complex areas

A covering includes an outer material, a plurality of conductive-fibers, and a fastening material. The outer material includes a front surface and a back surface and the conductive-fibers are disposed between the front surface and the back surface. The conductive-fibers are configured to receive a voltage that causes the conductive-fibers to repel and remove dust from the front surface of the outer material. The fastening material is coupled to the back surface of the outer material and facilitates releasably attaching the outer material to an article.

Releasable dust mitigation covering

A Dust Mitigation System ('DMS') is disclosed that includes a fabric-material having a front-surface and a back-surface; a plurality of conductive-fibers within the fabric-material; and a plurality of input-nodes approximately adjacent to the back-surface or the front-surface of the fabric-material. The plurality of conductive-fibers are approximately parallel in a first direction along the fabric-material and are approximately adjacent to the front-surface of the fabric-material and the plurality of input-nodes are in signal communication with the plurality of conductive-fibers and configured to receive an alternating-current ('AC') voltage-signal from an input-signal-source. The plurality of conductive-fibers are configured to generate an electric-field on the front-surface of the fabric-material in response to the plurality of input-nodes receiving the AC voltage-signal from the input-signal-source and a traveling-wave (from the electric-field) that travels along the front-surface of the fabric-material in a second direction that is transverse to the first direction.

In an example, a particulate filter includes a porous filter substrate including a first surface and a second surface. The porous filter substrate is configured to filter gas flowing through the porous filter substrate between the first surface and the second surface. A plurality of conductors are coupled to the porous filter substrate. The plurality of conductors are approximately parallel to each other along the porous filter substrate. The particulate filter also includes a plurality of input nodes in signal communication with the plurality of conductors and configured to receive a voltage signal from an input signal source. The plurality of conductors are configured to generate an electric field on at least one of the first surface or the second surface of the porous filter substrate in response to the plurality of input nodes receiving the voltage signal from the input signal source.

Particulate filter and methods for removing particulates from a particulate filter

Reversibly switchable (transformable) surface layer changeable from (super)hydrophobic to (super)hydrophilic surface states are described. Methods of decontamination of surfaces exposed to contaminate are provided. The reversibly switchable properties of the surface layer can be controlled by an external stimulus.

Surface materials for decontamination with decontaminants

In an example, a system for forming a dust-mitigating fabric includes a warp-strand-delivery unit including warp strands. The warp strands include insulative-warp strands and conductive-warp strands. The system includes a plurality of heddles that receive the warp strands, and a plurality of harnesses coupled to the heddles. The dust-mitigating fabric has an adapter for receiving one or more phases of an electrical signal. The warp strands include a group of insulative-warp strands and one or more groups of conductive-warp strands. Each group of conductive-warp strands corresponds to a respective phase of the electrical signal. The harnesses move the groups of warp strands to form a shed, and move, on a group-by-group basis, each group of conductive-warp strands to facilitate forming the adapter. The system further includes a picking device to move a weft strand through the shed to form a fabric.

Systems and methods for forming a dust mitigating fabric

A spark plug having an insulating body defining a longitudinal axis and including a base portion and an obstruction portion, a first electrode including a proximal portion, a sheathed portion and a distal portion, the sheathed portion of the first electrode extending through the base portion of the insulating body, and a second electrode including a proximal portion, a sheathed portion and a distal portion, the sheathed portion of the second electrode extending through the base portion and the obstruction portion of the insulating body, wherein the obstruction portion axially extends beyond the distal portion of the first electrode.

Spark plug and associated propellant ignition system

An antimicrobial coating fabrication method includes providing a substrate having a substrate surface, providing at least one first antimicrobial material in at least one first pattern on the substrate surface and providing at least one second antimicrobial material on the substrate surface in at least one second pattern disposed in generally adjacent relationship with respect to the at least one first pattern of the first antimicrobial material. An antimicrobial structure is also disclosed.
