A spacer is provided that is shapable into a spacer frame, and during manufacture of an insulating glass unit, can be mounted on the glass panes. The spacer is formed having an inner surface, an outer surface and two lateral surfaces extending at either side of the spacer from the inner surface to the outer surface, and comprises a profiled body. The profiled body comprises two mutually spaced lateral faces running parallel to its longitudinal direction and a base body that extends between the lateral faces and has an outer and an inner face. The profiled body comprises at least in one part of its volume a quantity of particulate desiccant that is embedded in a plastics material. The spacer is coilable about an axis, perpendicularly to the lateral surfaces, and takes a flexurally rigid form in a plane perpendicular to the lateral surfaces.

Spacer for insulated glass units

Disclosed are a method and device for sealing insulated glass blanks, wherein the insulated glass blank is moved substantially continuously through a sealing station. When sections of the edge joint of the insulated glass blank that are oriented transverse or oblique to the conveying direction are filled with sealing mass exiting from a filling nozzle, the filling nozzle is likewise moved in the conveying direction. When sealing mass is introduced from the filling nozzle into sections of the insulated glass blank that are parallel to the conveying direction, the filling nozzle is not moved in the conveying direction or is moved in the conveying direction at a velocity Vdeviating from the velocity Vat which the insulated glass blank is moved.

Method and device for sealing insulated glass blanks

Disclosed is an apparatus for conveying glass panels contains a conveying device including a feed conveyor and a removal conveyor, and also a region with a processing station. A lifting device for glass panels is provided upstream of the processing station and a lowering device for glass panels is provided downstream of the processing station, wherein a linear-conveying device is provided between the lifting device and the lowering device. It is thus possible for glass panels to be moved, by raising action, linear movement and lowering action, around a first component located in the region in the processing station, the second component therefore passing the first component. During the passing operation, the second component always remains in the conveying plane, which is the same as the plane of the second component.

Conveying apparatus

A device for storing and/or for transporting preferably substantially vertically oriented, panel-shaped objects, in particular insulating glass elements, having support planes and having compartment delimiters which delimit compartments, wherein the support planes delimit a support region. At least parts of compartment delimiters can be moved into an operative position in which parts engage through the support planes and project into the support region, with the result that compartment delimiters form compartments for panel-shaped objects in the support region with their parts which project into the support region. Compartment delimiters can be moved out of the operative position into a standby position in which compartment delimiters are arranged outside of the support region. Compartment delimiters are arranged adjustably on positioning bars and can be fixed in a form- and/or force-fitting manner on positioning bars against adjustment.

Device and method for storing and/or for transporting insulating glass panes

When being sealed, insulating glass blanks () are held in a sealing station () gripped at the base by grippers () of a gripper arrangement () and/or by suction heads () and rest at the top against a roller beam () fitted with rollers (). As the insulating glass blank () is sealed, only the nozzle () of a sealing assembly () moves along the outer edge of the insulating glass blank (), which is stationary during the sealing process. When the lower edge of an insulating glass blank () is sealed, grippers () engaging the lower edge are released and move away downwards. Sealed insulating glass is removed from the sealing station () by a removal robot () onto the side opposite the sealing assembly (), moved to a temporary store and placed therein on A-bearing supports () and fan frames () sorted according to production lots.

Sealing and de-stacking

When producing insulating glass including at least two panes of glass () and at least one spacer of thermoplastic material arranged between the panes of glass, to seal the beginning () and the end () of the strand () of thermoplastic material the thermoplastic material is compressed with the aid of jaws placed against the side faces of the strand. In the region of the joint thus formed between the beginning and the end of the strand forming the spacer, the width of the strand is reduced with the aid of a compression die with a convexly curved active face such that a depression is created. This depression has the effect that, after the assembly of an insulating glass blank, placing a second pane of glass onto the free edges of the strand produces an opening that allows a pressure equalization during the subsequent compression of the insulating glass blank.

Method and device for producing thermoplastic spacers

A nozzle pair () is used to coat the side faces of spacers () for insulating glass with an adhesive material, the adhesive material being applied to the side face of the spacers () through the nozzles () of the nozzle pair. As the side faces of the spacer () are coated with adhesive material the nozzle pair () is moved along the sides of the spacer (), the relative movement between the nozzle pair () and the spacer () being obtained by a movement of the spacer () and/or the nozzle pair (). With this way of working, there is no need to rotate the spacer () about an axis perpendicular to its plane and therefore the rotation can be dispensed with.

Method and device for coating spacers

A strand of sealing compound is expelled from a nozzle into an edge joint of an insulating glass element to form around it a contiguous sealing compound bead. The sealing compound bead is formed discontinuously from several segments. At least one first segment is formed by the relative movement in a first circumferential direction of the insulating glass element, and at least one second segment is formed by the relative movement in a second, opposite circumferential direction. Each connection of segments of the sealing compound bead which is situated on a longitudinal side section of the circumference of the insulating glass element is formed such that the strand of the sealing compound is applied in the region of the end of a sealing compound bead already situated in the edge joint and is formed by the relative movement away from the end.

Method and device for filling an edge joint of an insulating glass element with a sealing compound

In order to produce sharp corners in edge regions () of a strand () of deformable material which is applied to a glass pane, the strand () forming a spacer in the insulating glass, a tool () is forced against the outer corner () and a tool () against the inner corner (). The tools () have active portions () which correspond to the shape of the outer corner () and to the shape of the inner corner ().

Method and device for forming corners in spacers for insulating glass

A device for mixing at least two fluid to pasty substances has a housing () with at least two openings () for feeding the substances and with a discharge opening (), a mixing element () which can rotate in the housing (), which mixing element () can be displaced in the direction () of its axis () in relation to the housing () in order to adjust the size of a gap () between a conically tapering part () of the mixing element () and a likewise tapering region () of the housing () in order to adjust the shear rate in the region of the gap (). The mixing element () has a region () in which annular ribs () are provided which project from the mixing element () and which engage between adjacent annular ribs () which project from the inner surface () of the housing ().

Method and apparatus for changing spacers

When decoating a glass panel (), a decoating tool () with a circular-cylindrical grinding element () is used, which element is set to rotate around its axis. In the end face of the grinding element () that is used when the active face () is decoated, a hole () and at least one radial groove () are provided. The decoating tool () is placed at a spot (A) on the glass panel () in a movement (arrow) that is oriented at an acute angle to the plane of the glass panel (), which lies between the ends (B) and (C) of the strip-shaped decoating area () and moves first to the one end (B) (arrow) and then to the other end (C) (arrow) in order to strip coating from the glass panel () in the decoating area ().

Method for decoating a glass panel

Conveying elements () are used for moving insulation glass blanks () prior to, during and after sealing the blanks, the conveying elements () including supports () that support and move the insulation glass blank. The supports () on the conveying elements () are oriented relative to the insulation glass blank () in such a way that no supports () are in contact with the insulation glass blank in the region of corners () of the insulation glass blank (), i.e. where sealing compound () can project from the outer periphery of the insulation glass blank ().

Method for conveying insulation glass blanks

A device for laminating plate-shaped articles, in particular glass panes, has two laminating rolls (), of which at least one laminating roll () is driven and between which the plate-shaped articles for laminating are guided through. One laminating roll () is preferably mounted fixedly in a machine frame () and the other laminating roll () is mounted adjustably in the machine frame (). The roll () which is mounted adjustably in the machine frame () is mounted in the region of the ends of the roll () in bearings () which are connected to parallel links (). The parallel links () are mounted in the machine frame () and are connected to one another via a coupling rod (). One of the two parallel links () is connected to a drive ().

Device for laminating plate-shaped articles

A method and apparatus for the, preferably automated, changing of spacers in a plant having at least one applicator head for applying spacers to panel-shaped workpieces, in particular glass panes. Spacers from at least two sources are fed to the applicator head in an offset manner with respect to one another. A first spacer from a first source is separated. The resulting end of the first spacer and a start of the second spacer, which comes from a second source, are moved into a mutually assigned position by a changing device. Then, the end of the first spacer is connected to the start of the second spacer. A resulting connection of the first spacer with the second spacer runs through the plant until the connection has passed the applicator head. Thereafter, the second spacer is separated in a region between the connection and the applicator head.

When dividing glass using laser radiation into blanks () made of glass, a bundled laser beam () is directed onto the glass to be divided, and while forming at least two blanks (), the glass is divided with sides () lying in the area of the cut. After the glass is divided, a laser beam () is directed onto at least one edge () of a side () of the formed blank () in order to separate glass from the edge () while forming a bevel () that lies on the side (). For forming the bevel (), at least one laser source () and a reflector () assigned to the latter are moved along the side () so that the laser beam ()&#x2014;which with the plane of the blank () encompasses an acute angle&#x2014;is effective for forming the bevel ().
