A first assembly is provided for forming the dental impression and a second assembly for forming the dental model, wherein the first assembly includes an impression post; a first coupler for coupling the impression post with a dental implant affixed within the mouth; and an impression cap for positioning on the impression post. The second assembly includes: a model post; a second coupler for coupling the model post with a dental analog; and the impression cap. The impression cap has a first and second securing means, both for selectively securing the impression cap to the impression post and to the model post.

Kit and method for taking dental impressions and forming dental models

The present invention relates to a device for the attachment of dental prosthesis, consisting of a male component which can be anchored into a jaw and a removable attachable female component for receiving the artificial teeth. The device includes at least one spring element and at least one retention element. At least one spring element is a leaf spring element which is made of superelastic material and connected by one of its end to a removable female component or the installed male component of the dental prosthesis and has a convex part on its second end for tight friction contacting with the retention element of opposite component of the dental prosthesis.

Device for removable attachment of dental prosthesis

A dual use compression clip and surgical port device where the device serves as a surgical compression clip and surgical port in surgical procedures. The device comprises two compression elements each constructed having a bounding surface which when taken together form the boundary of a surgical port and one or more hinge elements in mechanical communication with the compression elements allowing the compression elements and the device to move from an open arrangement to a closed arrangement. The device also includes one or more apertures on each of the compression elements sized and configured to receive the insertion elements of an applicator instrument so that a force applied by the applicator instrument brings the device and compression elements from their open arrangement to their closed arrangement. A system and method for use of the device is also discussed.

Surgical port for notes procedures

A compression assembly for use in compressing tissue comprising a first portion which includes a first compression element and a second portion which comprises a second compression element, at least one support element, and at least one spring element. Typically the spring element is formed of a shape-memory material. The at least one spring element is in compressive force contact with the second compression element and the tissue to be joined is positioned between the first and second compression elements. A plurality of needles on one of the support elements is operative to pierce the tissue and the first portion of the assembly, holding the first compression element to the second portion of the assembly. The invention is appropriate for joining severed tissue in anastomosis procedures or closing natural or surgically produced tissue perforations.

Compression assemblies and applicators for use therewith

A surgical clip assembly which includes a pair of generally linear compression elements for securing tissue between them and for applying to the secured tissue a compression force. The clip assembly has an initial, open position in which the linear compression elements may be positioned about tissue to be secured between them. The assembly also has a final, closed position where the compression elements are substantially parallel to each other, applying a compressive force to the secured tissue. The clip assembly also includes a force means disposed between the pair of compression elements and operative to transmit operational forces between them.

Surgical compression clips

A system including surgical compression clips is described and used for endoscopic full thickness resection. Similarly, methods for endoscopic full thickness resection using the described system are also discussed. Surgical compression clips using shape-memory elements are discussed. These clips are advanceable to the site of suspect tissue to be resected through a lumen of a multi-lumen sleeve encasing an endoscope. At the site of the tissue, the compression clip is opened and operated to circumscribe the suspect tissue. Grasper assemblies, advanceable through an endoscope, are also described. These latter grasp and bring the suspect tissue to the open clip. The clip is then closed and the tissue resected. The clip effects necrosis and healing at the resected site.

Endoscopic full thickness resection using surgical compression clips

A compression anastomosis ring (CAR) assembly for use in joining severed organ wall portions of a hollow organ. The assembly comprises a first portion which includes an anvil assembly and a second portion which comprises a bottom ring, at least one ring element, and at least one spring element formed of a shape-memory alloy. The at least one spring element provides a restorative force and is in compressive force contact with the bottom ring and the tissue to be joined is positioned between the anvil ring and the bottom ring. A plurality of needles on one of the ring elements is operative, upon application of a closure force, to pierce the tissue and the anvil ring, holding the anvil ring to the second portion of the CAR assembly. An applicator for applying the CAR assembly and a method for using the assembly and applicator are taught.

Compression anastomosis ring assembly and applicator for use therewith

Apparatus for intratubular intussusception and anastomosis of a hollow organ portion including a cylindrical enclosure, coaxial intratubular intussusception device, for intussusception and clamping means. The apparatus also includes an intratubular anastomosis apparatus for joining organ portions after intussusception thereof with an anastomosis ring and crimping support element. The ring is formed of a shape memory alloy wire, for crimping adjacent organ portions against the crimping support element so as to cause anastomosis therebetween. The ring assumes a plastic or malleable state, at a lower temperature and an elastic state at a higher temperature. The apparatus further includes the crimping support element for intratubular insertion so as to provide a support for crimping the organ portions against the support element. The apparatus additionally includes a surgical excising means, for excising an intussuscepted organ portion, after crimping adjacent intussuscepted organ walls against the crimping support element with the anastomosis ring.

Intussusception and anastomosis apparatus

The present invention, discloses an anastomosis clip applicator device for applying a surgical clip, formed at least partly of a shape memory alloy, to press together adjacent wall portions of adjacent hollow organ portions so as to effect anastomosis therebetween. The applicator device includes: gripping apparatus for gripping a surgical clip, a release mechanism, associated with the gripping apparatus, and tissue cutting apparatus, operatively associated with the gripping apparatus. There is also apparatus for activating the gripping apparatus, the release mechanism and the cutting apparatus, so as to introduce and apply the surgical clip into adjacent hollow organ portions, such that the surgical clip compresses together the adjacent walls of the hollow organ portions, and thereafter causes the cutting apparatus to perforate the adjacent pressed together organ walls to provide patency through the joined portions of the hollow organ.

Surgical clip applicator device

An intratubular anastomosis apparatus for joining organ portions of a hollow organ after intussusception which includes an anastomosis ring, and a crimping support element. The anastomosis ring includes a length of a wire formed of a shape memory alloy for crimping adjacent organ portions against the crimping support element so as to cause anastomosis. The anastomosis ring and the shape memory alloy assumes a plastic state, when at a first, lower temperature and an elastic state, when reaching at least a second, higher temperature. The crimping support element provides a support for crimping the organ portions against the support element. Using the anastomosis ring and crimping support element of the present invention reduces the risk of leakage and no staples or sutures remain within the anastomosed organ portion.

Intratubular anastomosis apparatus

Apparatus for increasing the span length of a bone staple, which includes two prongs connected by a system which provides a mechanical advantage to facilitate bringing the prongs closer together or further apart. One prong includes a staple receptor. The other prong includes a cam-like head such that when the prongs are brought together the staple span length of a staple in the receptor increases. Alternatively, the two prongs are disposed for mounting a staple. When the prongs are pushed apart the staple span length increases. The present invention also relates to a bone staple formed of a shape-memory alloy and an apparatus associated with the staple. The apparatus deforms the staple by increasing its span length and facilitating its insertion into bone tissue. The deformation range of the staple allows the staple to revert to its original shape when the temperature is changed.

Staples for bone fixation

A surgical clip system which includes a surgical clip having a first clip portion including a first length of material having a closed geometrical shape having a first surface, the shape having a central axis therethrough and having a central opening therein; a pair of support portions associated with the first clip portion; a second clip portion including a second length of material having a closed geometrical shape having a second surface of substantially the same configuration and size as that of the first clip portion, the shape having a central axis therethrough; and a pair of fastening elements formed of a shape memory alloy, each of the fastening elements including a first end and a second end, each of the first ends being attached to the second clip portion; wherein, when at a first temperature or higher, the shape memory alloy is in an elastic state, such that the pair of fastening elements are maintained in a position such that they abut the support portions, and wherein, when at a second temperature or lower, below the first temperature, the shape memory alloy is in a plastic state, thereby enabling the second ends of the pair of fastening elements to be moved away from the second length of material and to be passed between the support portions such that, upon heating of the clip to at least the first temperature, the pair of fastening elements returns to the position such that they abut the support portions, thereby pressing against the pair of support portions, thereby pressing the first and second lengths of material towards each other, thereby to apply a compressive force to tissue located between the first and second lengths of material.

Shape memory alloy clip and method of use thereof

A surgical clip and method for anastomosing a gastrointestinal tract, the clip being formed at least partly of a shape memory alloy, the clip including: a first length of a wire defining a closed geometrical shape having a central opening; a second length of a wire defining a closed geometrical shape similar in configuration and magnitude to that of the first length of wire, wherein, when placed in side-by-side registration, the first and second lengths of wire fully overlap; an intermediate portion located between the first length of wire and the second length of wire, the intermediate portion formed of a shape memory alloy; a cutting element associated with the first length of wire; a counter element associated with the second length of wire and arranged for cutting engagement with the cutting element; wherein when at a first temperature or higher, the first and second lengths of wire are positioned in a side-by-side closed position and the shape memory alloy is in an elastic state, and further, when at a second temperature or lower, below the first temperature, the shape memory alloy is in a plastic state, thereby enabling the first and second lengths of wire to be moved into and to retain a spaced apart position, and upon heating of the clip to a temperature at least equal to the first temperature, the first and second lengths of wire return to the side-by-side closed position, thereby to apply a compressive force to tissue located therebetween.

Surgical clip

This invention is a surgical clip (,) including three lengths of wire integrally formed of a shape memory alloy, two of which (,) each form closed geometrical shapes similar in configuration and magnitude to each other, and the third (,) connects the first two. When at a first temperature or higher, the first and second lengths of wire (,) are positioned in a side by side closed position. The shape memory alloy is in an elastic sate. When at a second temperature or lower, below the first temperature, the shape memory alloy is in a plastic state, thereby enabling the first and second lengths of wire (,) to be moved into and to retain a spaced apart position. Upon heating of the clip to a temperature at least equal to the first temperature, the first and second lengths of wire return to the side by side closed position, thereby to apply a compressive force to tissue located therebetween; and a method of anastomosing a gastrointestinal tract with such a surgical clip (,).
