Peroxide masterbatch comprising: &#x2014;15-55 wt % of one or more organic peroxides, &#x2014;15-45 wt % of at least one copolymer of (i) ethylene or propylene and (ii) 1-butene and/or 1-octene, and 13-45 wt % of at least two types of fillers&#x2014;filler type 1 and filler type 2&#x2014;each having a different BET surface area: (i) filler type 1 being present in the masterbatch in a concentration of 3-15 wt % and having a BET surface area of more than 100 m/g; (ii) filler type 2 being present in the masterbatch in a concentration of 10-30 wt % and having a BET surface area of 100 m/g or less.

Process for enhancing the melt strength of polypropylene by heat treating said polypropylene at a temperature between 150&#xb0; C. and 300&#xb0; C. in the presence of 0.3-3 wt %, based on the weight of the polypropylene, of a dialkyl peroxydicarbonate having alkyl groups with 12-20 carbon atoms, wherein a hydrophilic silica with a silanol group concentration of at least 1.0 mmol Si&#x2014;OH groups/g, as measured by LiAlHtitration, is added to said polypropylene before, during, or after said heat treatment, in a mole ratio Si&#x2014;OH/dialkyl peroxydicarbonate of more than 0.5.

Process to prepare a trioxepane compound of the following formula (I) comprising less than 3.5 wt % of dialkyl peroxide based on the total amount of peroxides, said process comprising the steps of reacting a glycol compound of the formula RCHOH&#x2014;CH&#x2014;C(CH)OH with hydrogen peroxide in the presence of an acid to form a glycol hydroperoxide, purifying the glycol hydroperoxide, reacting the purified glycol hydroperoxide with a ketone or aldehyde of the formula RRCO in the presence of an acid to form the trioxepane compound, and purifying the trioxepane compound, wherein R, R, and Rare independently selected from hydrogen and a substituted or unsubstituted hydrocarbyl group, with the proviso that if Rand Rare both methyl groups, Ris not hydrogen. Initiator compositions comprising the so-prepared trioxepane compound are characterized by a high safe processing temperature in combination with a good crosslink efficiency.
