A turbine, and particularly a low pressure turbine is disclosed, which comprises a plurality of rotor members and spacers for arranged between rotor members, to avoid that an ingested gas flow from the hot gas flow path channel reaches the wheel space. The rotor members each include a deflector. The deflector is placed in correspondence with each spacer and deflects the purging air pumped up from the wheel spaces by the rotor members, to prevent the ingested gas flow to heat up the roots of the blades.

A turbine, and particularly a low pressure turbine is disclosed, which comprises a plurality of rotor members and spacers for arranged between rotor members, to avoid that an ingested gas flow from the hot gas flow path channel reaches the wheel space. The rotor members each include a deflector. The deflector is placed in correspondence with each spacer and deflects the ingested gas flow over the upper surface of the spacer, thus preventing it to heat up the roots of the blades.

A gas (or steam) turbine is disclosed including: a rotor with at least one array of rotor blades, a stator with a casing and a shroud ring; the shroud ring extends around the array of blades rotor and the casing extends around the shroud ring. The shroud ring has radial size independent from temperature due to its material and is movably coupled with the casing so to allow the casing of the stator to thermally expand and contract during operation of the turbine while maintaining the shroud ring radial size. Also, the rotor thermally expands and contracts during operation of the turbine, and, at working temperature, tip regions of the rotor blades are in close proximity to an inner region of the shroud ring so that clearance is small or zero at working condition.

The bearing component comprises an external cylindrical member having an outer bearing surface and an inner cavity, and internal cylindrical member, arranged in the inner cavity of the external cylindrical member and substantially coaxial thereto. The external cylindrical member and the internal cylindrical member form a gap therebetween. A resilient damping feature is arranged in the gap.

A process fluid path extends though the statoric part and the impeller. A bearing rotatingly supports the impeller in the casing and a bearing lubrication path is provided, to circulate a fluid flow through the bearing. A rotary screw integral with the impeller and rotating therewith when the pump is operating provides a pumping action on process fluid such that rotation of the impeller promotes process fluid circulation by means of said rotary screw through the bearing lubrication path.

A fluid entering the chamber via a suction valve is compressed inside the chamber, and evacuated from the chamber via a discharge valve. The timing valve is located between the chamber and a fluid volume at a relief pressure that is lower than a pressure in the chamber when the timing valve is opened. The actuator is configured to actuate the timing valve. The controller is configured to control the actuator such that to open the timing valve during an expansion phase of the compression cycle, and to close the timing valve when the relief pressure becomes equal to the pressure in the chamber or when the suction valve is opened.

A method for manufacturing impellers is described. The method provides for manufacturing a plurality of tubular components, each tubular component forming an inner passage, which is shaped as one of the flow passages of the final impeller. The tubular components are assembled together forming a semi-finished impeller. The semi-finished impeller is provided with annular cavities extending around the rotation axis of the impeller and gaps between adjacent tubular components. The gaps and cavities are filled with metal powder and the semi-finished impeller is subject to hot isostatic pressing, to densify the metal powder and form a monolithic final impeller.
